****EVENING SURF UP-DATE**** Ok like I said here’s more new photos from Canggu today thanks to Scotto. And here’s what Scott had to say on surfing conditions. “Conditions were small and clean. There was a good crowd of about 30 people spread between the sandbar and the river mouth. Standouts were WCT surfers Adrian “Ace” Buchan and Taj Burrow. Local ripper Wayan “Betet” Merta also shone but only lasted about half an hour. As he ran past he was saying it was pretty “chilly”? I mean the wind had come up by then, so he had a point I guess? “Garut” was also putting in a pretty solid performaces. It was a who’s who up there today with a number of ex-pros, free surfers, either hanging out in the warungs or out in the lineup.
On my way home I stopped at Padma street to see how it was looking as the tide started to hit the top. There was some pretty sweet lefts and rights hitting the beach. I noticed “Bol” had just been out and was now headed home. “Lee Wilson” looked to be headed out and I’m sure if I had not been so worn out there would have been some pretty good photo opportunities here also. Waves were around the waist to Chest high and there would have been around 30 out covering both banks.
Ok thats it for me today, we’ll check out what conditions are going to like a little later and start doing it all again tomorrow. Just so you lot can have the most up todate surf info coming out of Bali . Check in and don’t miss any of the action. Till next time. Scottâ€
****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Good morning people and welcome back to the baliwaves.com for the latest news on Bali ’s surf and weather conditions. As you may have noticed I was absent again yesterday (I think that’s 4-5 days I’ve had off in the last mont h..) but it was for a good cause. I also had a meeting with the Datah Primary School Principal and teachers and even one of the committee members who control all the schools in this district. And I tell ya they are pretty stoked with what we have been doing (we as in everyone who has been involved with “The Projectâ€) Ok ok I’ll write it all up later and get it posted on the School Project page, when Troy gets back from holidaying.
First up the 7.00am surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing wave height down into the 2-2ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The first of our tides today was a 0.8mtr low @ 8.00am and then we’ll have a 2.2mtr High around 2.00pm. Wind direction was coming outta the East @ 1-3knot at the time, but should increase in strength through out the morning.
Not a lot of action for the Outer Reef surfers today there wasn’t much happening on Kuta Reef only breaking in the knee to knee high plus range. Middle Reef did have some fun sized waves in the waist to shoulder high class and is the best option for the lower end of the tide. Airport Left will also have the odd waist to chest high wave when the tide starts to run back in.
Troy called through a surf report from Balian last night, and he reckoned they had a good day of waves up on the North West Coast of Bali yesterday. Apparantly wave height was still pushing double head high on the A frame river mouth.
Scotto has made the morning run up to Canggu to see whats happening up there and I dare say we’ll have some more photos for ya’s later this afternoon, if you care to call back.
I also edited 3 New Video Clips that are tube ridding riddled Keramas so ya can always have a flick them in the mean time.
Weather wise we do have some scattered cloud about this morning but I think it’d be pretty safe to say that we won’t have any rain. Come midday it’ll be just another hot and sunny day on the holiday island of B a l i .
Swell Forecast ; Well I’ve only had a quick glance at the charts so far today and it looks like there’s not going to be any change in wave height today, 1-3ft+ depending on location. But hopefully by Wednesday afternoon we should start to see a new swell starting to build that should generate some double over head surf for Thursday and Friday, once again depending on location. Smaller waves through next weekend but still something to ride. Then early next week it’s looking positive for another solid system to smack into the reefs around Bali and Ind onesia . So all in all it’s looking good for another surf filled week here in Bali . But all the same I’ll be keeping an eye on things and if there are any changes I’ll keep ya’s In the loop.
Drop me a line if your interested in getting on board a 9.5mtr high powered ocean speed boat if you want to surf locations like Desert Pt, Scar Reef, Supersuck, Yo-Yo’s without having to wait days to get the their the old way. I’m thinking this type of trip is gunna be the New Way to hit Lombok and Sumbawa instead of the old 7 day slow boat system. Especially when it’s priced around the same range but doubling the amount of surf time !
And just a reminder that we still have some baliwaves.com T-Shirts and stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
G-Land ; I had a pnone call from G-Land this morning and Raymond said to tell you guys and girls that he’ll give you 15% discount off the published price. Just click on his G-Land banner over in our banner advertisement section and drop him an email.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta and the Aussie dollar is just getting stronger and stronger, currently 1AU$=Rp8,950 while 1US$=Rp9,240 Give or take a hundred Rupiah.

Money saver tip #752 : Anyone wanting to get out on a 3 island 7 day boat charter to Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa drop me a line cause I was talking to an operator last night and he’s offering the all inclusive trips for just AU$600.00 !!! Start organizing your crew now for the recommencement of these charters in March 08. Better still charter the boat privately with up to 10 of your friends for AU$6,000. all inclusive.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Finally, I just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
