****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE**** Ok friends here’s what Scott had to say on surfing conditions up at Canggu today. “Today I was awake pretty early again so it was a quick look out the window and check the wind, then out the door. I was on the road just after 6am and on the road to my destination for the day..As the wind was nearly non existent I thought that I would try my luck up at Canggu.
I was standing on the beach just before 7am and as I headed up to my usual place to stand I could see that it was pretty much maxed out. With the outgoing tide things were not going to improve in this spot. There was a couple of guys out making the most of the higher tide but I didn’t see them catch anything descent. OK so this was not going to work.
Plan B, ok so I headed over the back and set up on the beach next door. There was great waves coming through and it was holding the size a way better. It breaks a long way out though so 600mm was working over time today. I would guess there was about 30+ surfers in the water at this spot.
As you can see in the photos the early morning golden glass just looks great and standing on the beach and watching the day wake up is hard to beat. Waves were in the 3-4ft range and pretty consistent for a run out tide. Todays session included most tpyes of non-motorised water craft with everyone getting a few waves.
I was ready to call it quits after 3 hours so I packed up and headed home. Hope you enjoy the beautiful waves coming at you out of Bali, the magical Island of the Gods..Till next time. Scottoâ€
****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Morning crew and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves.com for another day of surf and weather info from your favourite surfing holiday destination of Bali .
Well I was up before the birds this morning and down at the beach taking a surf recon of the Outer Reefs at 6.15am. And it was sure nice to see a solid bump in wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The first of our tides today is going to be a 0.8mtr Low around midday and then followed up with a weak 1.5mtr High around 5.30pm. At the time wind direction was coming lightly outta the NE @ 1-2knot, but the ESE off-shore Tradewind kicked in at 8.45am making it even better out there.
Kuta Reef I’m sorry to say had at least 50 surfers in the water by 7.30am but that was because it was del ivering some smoking rides of up to 100yrds @ 4ft.
Middle Reef was pulling a more solid 5ft or upto double over head but with a more sedate crowd of around 10 surfers.
Airport Left was also brea king nicely in the head to head high plus range.
Canggu , Scotto has phoned through from where he is at Canggu and said that at 7.30am there was something like 35 surfers in the water and surfing conditions were clean and off-shore with wave height @ 2-4ft+. So drop back in later this afternoon and we’ll have aome new photos for ya’s
Nias / Sumatra ; Our man Jai Gun is up there on location for the next few weeks and has sent us through a couple of nice photos and a surf report and you can find Jai’s info on our Readers Report page.
Weather wise around this part of the island we have another perfect holiday type day coming on for all the lucky buggers here on vacation. Blue sky, sunshine, off-shore wind, warm water and waves.
Swell Forecast ; 24th – 30th June. Well I’ve only had a quick glance at the charts so far today and it looks like there’s not going to be any change in wave height today, 1-3ft+ depending on location. But hopefully by Wednesday afternoon we should start to see a new swell starting to build that should generate some double over head surf for Thursday and Friday, once again depending on location. Smaller waves through next weekend but still something to ride. Then early next week it’s looking positive for another solid system to smack into the reefs around Bali and Ind onesia . So all in all it’s looking good for another surf filled week here in Bali . But all the same I’ll be keeping an eye on things and if there are any changes I’ll keep ya’s In the loop.
Drop me a line if your interested in getting on board a 10mtr high powered ocean speed boat if you want to surf locations like Desert Pt, Scar Reef, Supersuck, Yo-Yo’s without having to wait days to get the their the old way. I’m thinking this type of trip is gunna be the New Way to hit Lombok and Sumbawa instead of the old 7 day slow boat system. Especially when it’s priced around the same range but doubling the amount of surf time !
And just a reminder that we still have some baliwaves.com T-Shirts and stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta and the Aussie dollar is just getting stronger and stronger, currently 1AU$=Rp8,850 while 1US$=Rp9,240 Give or take a hundred Rupiah.

If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
