****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** Howdy crew and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves.com for the Sunday Session on surfing and weather conditions around Bali .
Well once again seeing as though it is Sunday I opted to go out trolling (sport fishing) with my Bali nese friends. These current photos have been sent to us from Jai Gunn who is currently up on location at Lagundri Bay in Nias, Sumatra .
When I ws down pushing the boat into the water at 6.30am it was looking like wave height had dropped off a touch from yesterday but there were still some fun sized waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The first of our tides today was a 2.1mtr High @ 6.30am and then followed up with a 0.8mtr @ 1.00pm. Wind direction at the time was coming outta the NE @ 3-6knot up until around 8.00am when the ESE-SE Tradewind kicked blowing off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu.
Kuta Reef had some smallish knee to waist high plus waves brea king and when we went past it there were 4 surfers in the water.
Middle Reef had 15 surfers out there and wave height was a bit more respectable at waist to shoulder high plus.
Airport Left had 10 surfers on it with wave height coming through in the waist to shoulder high plus range also.
Balangan , I only noticed a few surfers close to the point at Balangan with wave height showing in the waist to chest high plus zone.
Bingin had quite a few surfers on the small take off zone but it was looking consistent even though at only waist to chest high.
Impossible’s was looking pretty good with the middle section of reef producing some fun looking walls that were peeling off @ waist to chest high plus.
Padang Padang was too small
Uluwatu was picking up the most swell around Bali as usual with wave height pushing the chest to head high plus class.
Mentawai Islands ; We’ve also had some new photos and surf reports sent to us from the good guys up at the Kan dui Resort. See if you can recognize the featured surfers, ya should !
Weather wise it’s been pretty normal here along Bali ’s West Coast with blue sky and sunshine with just the odd cloud drifting past.
Swell Forecast ; 24th – 30th June. Well I’ve only had a quick glance at the charts so far today and it looks like there’s not going to be any change in wave height today, 1-3ft+ depending on location. But hopefully by Wednesday afternoon we should start to see a new swell starting to build that should generate some double over head surf for Thursday and Friday, once again depending on location. Smaller waves through next weekend but still something to ride. Then early next week it’s looking positive for another solid system to smack into the reefs around Bali and Ind onesia . So all in all it’s looking good for another surf filled week here in Bali . But all the same I’ll be keeping an eye on things and if there are any changes I’ll keep ya’s In the loop.
Drop me a line if your interested in getting on board a 10mtr high powered ocean speed boat if you want to surf locations like Desert Pt, Scar Reef, Supersuck, Yo-Yo’s without having to wait days to get the their the old way. I’m thinking this type of trip is gunna be the New Way to hit Lombok and Sumbawa instead of the old 7 day slow boat system. Especially when it’s priced around the same range but doubling the amount of surf time !
And just a reminder that we still have some baliwaves.com T-Shirts and stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta and the Aussie dollar is just getting stronger and stronger, currently 1AU$=Rp8,850 while 1US$=Rp9,240 Give or take a hundred Rupiah.

Start organizing your crew now for the recommencement of these charters in March 08. Better still charter the boat privately with up to 10 of your friends for AU$6,000. all inclusive.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
