****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Good morning my friends of Bali and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves for your daily dose of surf and weather information from this happy little holiday island.
Like I mentioned in yesterdays report Dewa Made was down at Bingin shooting us some video footage so I decidd to cut a few still images from the footage and that’s what your looking at right now. I also managed to edit ya’s 3 NEW VIDEO CLIPS of Bingin doing it’s thing and these are definitely worth taking a look at.
Surfwise today on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban wave height has taken another whack in height and dropped off into the 1-2ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The first of our tides today is going to be a 0.7mtr Low around 9.00am and then she’ll be running back up for a 1.9mtr High around 3.00pm. Once again the ESE-SE Tradewind has kicked in early blowing hard off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu in the 10-16knot range.
Kuta Reef was breaking in the 1-1ft+ range this morning when I was down at the beach, but only because the tide was pretty low. It’d be a safe bet to say that as the tide fills in after lunch it’ll be all but flat out there.
Middle Reef was actually looking ok for a paddle, as we all know Middle Reef likes the lower end of the tide. There was the odd chest to shoulder high plus set wave breaking for the hardy wind resistant crew that were out there at the time.
Airport Left will follow suit with Kuta Reef. Small waves in the 1-1ft+ range while the tide is low and then you might still find the odd one footer out there after lunch.
The beach breaks up along the Kuta to Legian stretch should have some small but fun waves towards mid afternoon on the higher end of the tide.
Uluwatu would be the best chance to find something in the head high range around mid morning to midday. Dewa Made has taken the crew from here at the New Home Base down there this morning and I’ll have the full run down on how it was down there later this afternoon on there return.
Weather wise there was some cloud moving over through the early am but now at 9.45am it’s all good with the standard blue sky and sunshine.
Swell Forecast (10th July – 16th July) Small waves for today the 10th at most locations around Bali with maybe some more size down on the southern end of the island. Hopefully tomorrow we should receive a small spike in wave height that will last into the weekend. Then we’ll see wave height tapering back off through the start of next week. Further out we may have a new system moving our way but we’ll have to keep our eye on the charts.
I’d just like to let everyone know about the “Coca-Cola for Bali coastal clean up day†being held at Legian beach 13th July 08 at 8.00am. For more information on this gath ering go to this link for the full run down. https://www.baliwaves.com/Content.aspx?Page=Stories&Section=Read&ID=43
Drop me a line if your interested in organizing your friends to get on board a 10mtr high powered ocean speed boat if you want to surf locations like Desert Pt, Scar Reef, Supersuck, Yo-Yo’s without having to wait days to get the their the old way. I’m thinking this type of trip is gunna be the New Way to hit Lombok and Sumbawa instead of the old 7 day slow boat system. Especially when it’s priced around the same range but doubling the amount of surf time ! These charters are only for private groups at this stage so organize your surfing buddies and get on board.
And just a reminder that we still have some baliwaves.com T-Shirts and stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are AU$16.00 for a room with big double bed and AU$30.00 for a twin share room.
For the surfer / fisherman out there, and isn’t there a little bit of fisherman in all of us ? Well you guys can take a look at the fishing report and photos from the last couple of trips out sport fishing here in Bali
Check out the wotashot.com banner over in our banner advertising section. These guys offer a unique photo service enabling photographers to sell their photos on-line without any charge to the photographer.
Don’t forget if any of you lot want to grab some photos or video footage surfing here in Bali and we can easily arrange it for ya.
Money saver tip #752 : Anyone wanting to get out on a 3 island 7 day boat charter to Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa drop me a line cause I was talking to an operator last night and he’s offering the all inclusive trips for just AU$600.00 !!! Start organizing your crew now for the recommencement of these charters in March 08. Better still charter the boat privately with up to 10 of your friends for AU$6,000. all inclusive.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Finally, I just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
