****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** Hello hello friends and welcome back to the baliwaves.com for your daily dose of Bali surf and weather information. Yeah I know, late report but it’s been a big day down at Uluwatu today from 10.00am and getting back to Home Base at 5.00pm.
Small waves here on the Outer Reefs this morning with only 1-1ft+ of swell showing between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Tidewise today the first one we had was a 2.2mtr High @ 9.00am and then emptying out for a reef exposing 0.4mtr Low around 4.00pm. Winf direction was all good coming outta the ESE @ 8-14knot. Straight off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu.
Scott said he surfed up along the Padma St area at sun rise but wave height was pretty small and weak in the waist to waist high range.
Uluwatu as ya’s can see in these current photos was producing waves in the waist to head high class with the Main Peak breaking the best. But as ya’s can imagine with the limited amount of locations on offer for a paddle today it was pretty crowded down there, with around 90 surfers spread between Temple’s and the Racetrack.
We also stopped off at Padang Padang for another look at the stricken fishing boat that “washed up†on the reef last week. We’ll she’s still there, and with a new swell expected to start showing tomorrow afternoon she might even end up being a permanent fixture in the Padang Padang line up. There was no visible oil or fuel spill today.
Ok and here’s just a quick heads up on an up coming special even happening here in Bali on the 27th of July. Tom Curren will be playing live at the Hard Rock Café in Kuta along with a screening of a new surf movie. ALL FOR FREE !!!! So if your in town or going to be in town make sure ya get yourself down there ok.
Weather wise today a nice return to blue sky and sun shine with a top temperature of around 32 degree’s Celsius outta the shade.
Drop me a line if your interested in organizing your friends to get on board a 10mtr high powered ocean speed boat if you want to surf locations like Desert Pt, Scar Reef, Supersuck, Yo-Yo’s without having to wait days to get the their the old way. I’m thinking this type of trip is gunna be the New Way to hit Lombok and Sumbawa instead of the old 7 day slow boat system. Especially when it’s priced around the same range but doubling the amount of surf time ! These charters are only for private groups at this stage so organize your surfing buddies and get on board.
And just a reminder that we still have some baliwaves.com T-Shirts and stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
