****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Good morning surfers and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves.com for the run down on todays surfing and weather conditions here on your happy little surf riddled holiday island of Bali.
My 6.30am surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing a nice little increase in swell, and it’s just about right on schedule. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was breaking in the 1-3ft range and I’m pretty sure it will get bigger through out the day. The first of our tides in Bali today will be a 2.3mtr High between 9.00-10.00am and then she’ll be bottoming out for a 0.3mtr Low around 4.30pm, we also have the Full Moon rising tonight. The wind was already coming outta the ESE @ 5-8knot and will also increase in strength through out the day. But never the less it’s blowing straight off-shore from Legian to Uluwatu.
Kuta Reef had some nice little waves peeling across the reef in the waist to head high range and there was only 2 surfers out there for the dawn patrol. If I get a break later this morning I think I might even slip there for a quicky.
Middle Reef was showing in the waist to head high range as well but with the tide on the way in it was already looking a bit fat and full. Middle’s will improve from midday through out the afternoon.
Airport Left , slightly smaller on Airports this morning but still a ew smallies in the waist to shoulder high range.
The beach breaks up along the Kuta Half Way to Padma street should also be working this morning and I’m sure ya’d be able to find plenty of sweet little waves along there through the high tide.
Uluwatu would be getting the lions share of the new swell and there’d be plenty of action happening down on the Main Peak and Temple sections this morning.
Padang Padang , we’ll as of yesterday afternoon the abandoned fishing boat that was up on the reef was still sitting there. But last night I heard from a reliable source that they will be attempting to tow it off the reef this morning on the high tide. So fingers crossed and lets hope that the recovery team get the job done.
Weather wise this morning it’s pretty clouded up at the moment but no sign of rain. Hopefully we will have a return to blue sky and sunshine around midday.
Swell Forecast , well I only had a quick glimpse at the charts last night but I do have to say it’s looking real positive for the coming week here in Bali. With 3 new swell systems on the radar and in transit. I’ll take a better look later this morning and fill ya’s in next up-date.
Ok and here’s just a quick heads up on an up coming special even happening here in Bali on the 27th of July. Tom Curren will be playing live at the Hard Rock Café in Kuta along with a screening of a new surf movie. ALL FOR FREE !!!! So if your in town or going to be in town make sure ya get yourself down there ok.
Drop me a line if your interested in organizing your friends to get on board a 10mtr high powered ocean speed boat if you want to surf locations like Desert Pt, Scar Reef, Supersuck, Yo-Yo’s without having to wait days to get the their the old way. I’m thinking this type of trip is gunna be the New Way to hit Lombok and Sumbawa instead of the old 7 day slow boat system. Especially when it’s priced around the same range but doubling the amount of surf time ! These charters are only for private groups at this stage so organize your surfing buddies and get on board.
And just a reminder that we still have some baliwaves.com T-Shirts and stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
