Kandui Surf Resort July 23rd surf report
The wind was coming out of the southeast this morning, and it was a little stronger
than yesterday. We checked Kandui first thing and saw that it was looking a little
bigger and more powerful than yesterday. Our first boat stayed there and got some
good ones, but the wind was just a little off and the barrels were shutting down on
most of them. The swell increased as the session went on and there were even a
couple of double overhead bombs that rolled through. Our other boat went to Ebay
and they got some fun, head high and clean waves there. On the way back, they
stopped at Hideaway for a little while and got a couple of sick ones before the tide
got too low. In the afternoon, we went to Ebay again where it was very clean.
There were still some head high gems coming through, although it was getting more
inconsistent as the afternoon wore on. We are hoping that the second push of this
swell will be coming in tomorrow.
Kandui Surf Resort July 22 surf report
Our south swell was still looking pretty solid this morning, but the wind had
switched and was coming from the east. A quick look at Kandui with the jet ski
showed us that the swell must be pretty south because there wasn’t much swell
getting in that side of the island. It was pretty clean though, so our first boat
surfed there. It was only a little overhead, but fun. Our second boat headed for
Beng Beng. It was clean there as well and there were some shoulder high sets. 4
Bobs was pretty fun in the afternoon, as usual. We are hoping for increasing swell
tomorrow.
Kandui Surf Resort July 21 surf report
We woke up to quite a storm this morning. The winds were blowing out of the west at
20 mph or more and the rain was steadily coming down. On the plus side, 4 Bobs was
looking pretty good with overhead sets and strong offshore wind. We ran up to
Rifles on the jet ski and gave it a look. It was pretty inconsistent and only a
little overhead on the sets. Not quiet ripe yet. The guys surfed 4 Bobs and
Karambat left. The swell increased as the day wore on. 4 Bobs was getting in the
double overhead range and looking pretty awesome with the offshores. Rifles started
getting a funky bump on it that was wrapping around the island and we started to
think it just wasn’t going to happen out there. But, fortunately, around 3 o’clock
or so the winds started backing off and by 4 Rifles started looking good and sets
were going at least 4 feet overhead on the big ones. We got out there and scored
some sick ones! If only we had some big flood
lights or something! It was painful to see the sun set and our light fade. We
are hoping to get more Rifles tomorrow, although the swell will be fading.
