****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE**** Hello again folks and here’s the photos that Scott grabbed for us down along the beach breaks at Padma St. And here’s what Scott had to say on surfing conditions down there. “Today I was really keen to make the treck up to Canggu, but looking out of the window first thing, I could see the wind was already up and blowing out of the south. So with that in mind I went to plan B, and headed to Padma St. When I arrived the sun was not really up and there was alot of cloud cover. I even copped a couple of drops of rain on the way over.
On arrival there was about a dozen people in the water on each of the two peaks, left and right. Waves were in the chest high range on average. While I was there I did see one bomb set come through, it would have been nudging 4ft I guess in my opinion, but that was a freak one.
I hung around till about 9:45am and then decieded that it was time to head. I grabbed some breakfast on the way home, Nasi Campur, gotta be the best value meal going.
So that was my morning, hope you are getting waves where ever you are. If not get over here to the beautiful island of Bali..Till next time, Scottâ€
****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Good morning crew and thanks for coming back to the baliwaves.com for the latest news on Bali’s surf and weather conditions. Well yesterday I was a no show again sorry about that chief. But it was back up into the mountains for the day to visit our School Project. And I will be typing up a full report on the situation at the Datah Primary School today so please if your already involved or would like to be involved check it out on the School Project page.
Ok then it’s back to basics on the reefs and beach breaks in Bali today. Another slight drop off in wave height puts it at 1-2ft+ on the Outer Reefs of Tuban. Not much happening between Kuta Reef and Airports but there were still a few hardy souls making the most of what is on offer. With the New Moon rising last night we are going to see some big tide range over the next few days. Today we have a 2.4mtr High @ 10.00am and then she’ll be emptying out to a 0.2mtr Low around 5.30pm.
Kuta Reef had a few small but shapely waves earlier this morning in the waist to waist high plus range, and there wasn’t many going unridden either.
Middle Reef was slightly bigger at waist to shoulder high plus but the rising tide wasn’t helping the cause out there. Middle’s should improve after lunch on the run out tide.
Airports Left also had quite a few surfers in the line-up but with a longer wait between set waves. Also in the waist to waist high plus class.
Beach Breaks, Scotto is down along the beachies between Half Way Kuta and Padma st hunting for some new photos for us to check out. And I’d say we should have them on-line for ya’s around midday.
Canggu , Dewa Made is currently up at Canggu with one of the guests from here at Home Base and has just telephoned through that wave height is in the waist to head high range. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy and the wind still clean off-shore at this point in time.
Uluwatu would be a good option today and is always a good spot to hang out at. Wave height down at Uluwatu would more than likely be in the waist to head high plus range.
Keramas , It would also be a safe bet to say there woulda been some nice waves hitting Keramas early this morning before the tide got to high.
Weather wise out there this morning we have some cloud cover with odd patch of blue sky. But as soon as the Tradewind kicks in it should start clearing up for another hot and sunny day here on the Holiday Island of Bali.
Swell Forecast (1st July – 6th July). Ok I’ve just had a quick brouse of whats happening down in the Ind ia n Ocean and it looks to me like wave height is going to be slowly tapering off over the next week. But we should still have some waves in the shoulder to head high plus range at locations known for picking up swell, eg: Uluwatu, Keramas etc. Then anytime from next Friday onwards it looks like there’s some serious swell going to be hitting Bali / Ind onesia . So I’ll keep an eye on he charts and keep ya’s in the know. At this stage it’s looking real positive.
I’d just like to let everyone know about the “Coca-Cola for Bali coastal clean up day†being held at Legian beach 13th July 08 at 8.00am. For more information on this gath ering go to this link for the full run down. https://www.baliwaves.com/Content.aspx?Page=Stories&Section=Read&ID=43
Drop me a line if your interested in organizing your friends to get on board a 10mtr high powered ocean speed boat if you want to surf locations like Desert Pt, Scar Reef, Supersuck, Yo-Yo’s without having to wait days to get the their the old way. I’m thinking this type of trip is gunna be the New Way to hit Lombok and Sumbawa instead of the old 7 day slow boat system. Especially when it’s priced around the same range but doubling the amount of surf time !
And just a reminder that we still have some baliwaves.com T-Shirts and stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta and the Aussie dollar is just getting stronger and stronger, currently 1AU$=Rp8,875 while 1US$=Rp9,220 Give or take a hundred Rupiah.

Money saver tip #752 : Anyone wanting to get out on a 3 island 7 day boat charter to Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa drop me a line cause I was talking to an operator last night and he’s offering the all inclusive trips for just AU$600.00 !!! Start organizing your crew now for the recommencement of these charters in March 08. Better still charter the boat privately with up to 10 of your friends for AU$6,000. all inclusive.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Finally, I just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
