****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Good morning to all you Indo adventurer’s tuning into the baliwaves this fine and sunny Friday. Not much happening surf wise today but we don’t have too much longer to wait and well be getting all the swell we can handle.
I went down for surf check of the Outer reefs here in Tuban @ 7.45am to find wave height had suffered another blow and dropped down into the 1-1ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. And with the tide on the run in for a solid 2.5mtr High I’d say it’ll be pretty much flat out there through midday. Maybe around mid afternoon Middle Reef might have a few smallies breaking in the waist to waist high plus range. But by late afternoon it’ll be a dry reef exposing Low tide of 0.1mtr’s. The ESE-SE Tradewind kicked in early today and is already howling off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu @ 8-15knot.
So with that info there’s not gunna be anything worth chasing on the Outer Reefs until later this afternoon. But you should be able to find a little beach break down along the Kuta “Half Way†to Padma St area. Also if you wanted to head south you’d probably find a few head high waves breaking on Uluwatu’s Main Peak.
I’ve just also had a phone call from another friend Tyson who I met over at Scar Reef last month. Tyson is currently up at Lagundri Bay on the island of Nias / Sumatra. Apparrently the boys were surfing perfect Lagundri Bay at 4-5ft yesterday with only 12 surfers in the water. Today wave height has dropped back into the 2-3ft range and the wind is on-shore. Hopefully we’ll get some more surf reports from Tyson during his stay at Lagundri Bay.
Hopefully anytime in the next 24hrs we should start to see the beginning of a new swell generating system showing on our reef breaks around Bali and through out all of Indo. So stay tuned to the baliwaves over the weekend as we’ll keep ya’s up to date.
Weather wise today we are off to a good start with clear blue sky and sunshine. Temperature wise we’ll be heading for a maximum of around 32 degree’s Celsius outta the shade. While the water temp is a touch cooler than usual at 21 degree’s Celsius.
Swell Forecast (1st July – 6th July). Ok I’ve just had a quick brouse of whats happening down in the Ind ia n Ocean and it looks to me like wave height is going to be slowly tapering off over the next week. But we should still have some waves in the shoulder to head high plus range at locations known for picking up swell, eg: Uluwatu, Keramas etc. Then anytime from next Friday onwards it looks like there’s some serious swell going to be hitting Bali / Ind onesia . So I’ll keep an eye on he charts and keep ya’s in the know. At this stage it’s looking real positive.
I’d just like to let everyone know about the “Coca-Cola for Bali coastal clean up day†being held at Legian beach 13th July 08 at 8.00am. For more information on this gath ering go to this link for the full run down. https://www.baliwaves.com/Content.aspx?Page=Stories&Section=Read&ID=43
Drop me a line if your interested in organizing your friends to get on board a 10mtr high powered ocean speed boat if you want to surf locations like Desert Pt, Scar Reef, Supersuck, Yo-Yo’s without having to wait days to get the their the old way. I’m thinking this type of trip is gunna be the New Way to hit Lombok and Sumbawa instead of the old 7 day slow boat system. Especially when it’s priced around the same range but doubling the amount of surf time !
And just a reminder that we still have some baliwaves.com T-Shirts and stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta and the Aussie dollar is just getting stronger and stronger, currently 1AU$=Rp8,875 while 1US$=Rp9,220 Give or take a hundred Rupiah.

Start organizing your crew now for the recommencement of these charters in March 08. Better still charter the boat privately with up to 10 of your friends for AU$6,000. all inclusive.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email.
