****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Howdy friends and thanks a million for dropping by the baliwaves.com for your daily surf and weather report live from the happy little holiday island of Bali. As ya’s can see in these current photos our good friend Scotto took a little road trip upto Medewi, and by the look of these images there were some ok waves happening.
So what have we got today, my 7.00am surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing another drop in wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. But there are still waves out there in the waist to head high range. The first of our tides today was a 0.7mtr Low @ 8.00am and then she’ll be rolling back in for a 2.1mtr High around 2.00pm. Wind direction has been strong and gusty outta the ESE-SE since sunrise, upto 20knot+ at times.
Kuta Reef , the tide was still too low at the time I was on the beach but when the tide does start to run back in there will be some nice little waves peeling off in the waist to chest high range. But at the same time Billabong will be holding a Grommet Contest out there today.
Middle Reef was producing some good ones on the bottom of the tide with the odd 3-3ft+ set waves. There were a handful of surfers already out there making the most of conditions.
Airport Left was also in need of more water over the reef earlier but should be worth a paddle around midday. Wave height is also in that waist to chest high range.
Bingin , Dewa Made is down on location shooting some video footage at Binging this morning and has just phoned through that wave height is pushing 3ft or head high on the set waves and that there are plenty of tube rides going down. There were around 15 surfers in the water at the time. So hopefully I’ll be able to edit some new video clips for ya’s later this evening.
Uluwatu as always would be picking up the most swell and you could expect to find wave height in the 2-4ft range down there today.
Weather wise today it’s bisness as usual with plenty of blue sky and sunshine for the beach lovers here on vacation.
Swell Forecast , well just off the top of my head I think wave height should keep increasing through out today and into tomorrow (Tuesday) and then we will still have some smaller waves yo-yoing up and down in size for a couple more days. But I’ll have an indepth look at whats happening later this afternoon and fill ya’s in on tomorrows surf report.
I’d just like to let everyone know about the “Coca-Cola for Bali coastal clean up day†being held at Legian beach 13th July 08 at 8.00am. For more information on this gath ering go to this link for the full run down. https://www.baliwaves.com/Content.aspx?Page=Stories&Section=Read&ID=43
Drop me a line if your interested in organizing your friends to get on board a 10mtr high powered ocean speed boat if you want to surf locations like Desert Pt, Scar Reef, Supersuck, Yo-Yo’s without having to wait days to get the their the old way. I’m thinking this type of trip is gunna be the New Way to hit Lombok and Sumbawa instead of the old 7 day slow boat system. Especially when it’s priced around the same range but doubling the amount of surf time ! These charters are only for private groups at this stage so organize your surfing buddies and get on board.
And just a reminder that we still have some baliwaves.com T-Shirts and stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are AU$16.00 for a room with big double bed and AU$30.00 for a twin share room.
For the surfer / fisherman out there, and isn’t there a little bit of fisherman in all of us ? Well you guys can take a look at the fishing report and photos from the last couple of trips out sport fishing here in Bali
Check out the wotashot.com banner over in our banner advertising section. These guys offer a unique photo service enabling photographers to sell their photos on-line without any charge to the photographer.
Don’t forget if any of you lot want to grab some photos or video footage surfing here in Bali and we can easily arrange it for ya.
Money saver tip #752 : Anyone wanting to get out on a 3 island 7 day boat charter to Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa drop me a line cause I was talking to an operator last night and he’s offering the all inclusive trips for just AU$600.00 !!! Start organizing your crew now for the recommencement of these charters in March 08. Better still charter the boat privately with up to 10 of your friends for AU$6,000. all inclusive.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Finally, I just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
