****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** G’day crew and welcome back to your baliwaves.com daily surf and weather report station. Well I’ve been running around all over the place today getting ready to ship out to Singapore later tonight to get my work visa in order for another 12 months. But lucky for us Scotto hit the trail for Uluwatu and we can thank him for bringing home the bacon with these latest photos from Uluwatu. Actually while I’m over in Singa’s Scott will be holding the fort for us so you’ll still get your fix of daily Bali surf and weather info.
This morning when I finally made it down for a look at the Outer Reefs here in Tuban there were still some nice shaped waves peeling off in the 2-4ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Lefts. The first of our tides today was a 0.8mtr Low @ 11.00am and then a weak middle of the moon phase 1.3mtr High around 5.00pm. Wind direction has been coming constantly outta the ESE-SE @ 6-10 knot courtesy of the age old Tradewind.
Smallish waves breaking on Kuta Reef and Airport Left with the occasional head high set showing and no shortage of surfers to make sure no waves went through un-ridden. Middle Reef was still producing waves in the head to head high plus class and there was also somewhere around 25+ surfers out there as well.
Here’s the wrap on Uluwatu thanks to Scotto. “Today looking out my window I could see that the wind was already blowing at reasonable rate of knots at 6:30am. So my plan to head up to Canggu early instead made me head south to Uluwatu. On arrival there was about 20 surfers in the water surfing the racetrack section of reef. Waves were reasonably consistent with sets coming in at around 4ft.
This changed as the tide dropped out and sets became less consistent and size basically halved. I decieded that I had enough photos for the day though so I packed up and headed home at 9:30am. As the tide swings later in the day Uluwatu will be the place to be. There is less swell than yesterday and an afternoon session could be a go.
There was a couple of notables Tom Curren was surfing the end section of the racetrack on his pat malone. Stephanie Gilmore was also checking conditions from the warungs. So there is still no shortage of talant hanging about this beautiful island of Bali. The weather was overcast and there was a few spots of rain as headed home on the bike but right now although a little cloudy, things are looking pretty good. Till next time. Scottâ€
Weather wise it’s been mainly cloudy all day and even now at 1.30pm it’s still looking pretty grey. Temperature wise the mercury woulda still made it to around 27-28 degree’s Celsius.
