****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE**** Hey crew and thanks for hanging around for me to get back from Uluwatu this morning. Yeah good old Ulu was delivering the goods this morning. I think we’ve had enough beach breaks to last us awhile, what do you reckon.
I took my first surf check of the Outer Reefs this morning around 7.00am to find wave height had actually dropped off a touch (re-swell forecast) but there were still a few 2-3 footers breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The first of our tides today was a solid 2.4mtr High @ 12.00 noon and then we’re in for another dry reef exposing 0.1mtr Low @ 6.00pm. Relentlessly the ESE-SE off-shore Tradewind was blowing all night and still going strong this morning with gusts up to 20 knots by mid morning.
Kuta Reef had a little waist to waist high plus wave this morning while the tide was still running in, but with a longish wait for the set waves to appear.
Middle Reef was the pick of the Outer Reefs with some nice looking 2-3 footers breaking, and with occasional bonus of a slightly bigger freak set every now and again.
Airport Left also had the odd 3 foot or head high freak set coming through and woulda improved towards the top of the tide. But like on all of the sections of the Outer Reefs the wind was blowing just a bit too hard and putting chop onto the wave face.
Impossible’s had a few 2 footers peeling down the reef when I went past at around 9.00am. But on my return trip back to Home Base at 11.30pm the tide was too full and there wasn’t a lot happening.
Uluwatu as ya’s can see in these latest photos I took this morning was consistently delivering waves in the 2-3ft range with the occasional 4 footer hitting the Main Peak. There were infact around 50 surfers spread over the Main Peak to the top of the Racetrack section and then another 15-20 surfers up riding the Temple section.
Weather wise around the south end of Bali today it’s been cloudy and overcast so far. But temperature wise the mercury woulda still pushes to around 29 degree’s outta the wind.
Swell Forecast ; (16th – 22nd) Our short range expectations are not looking too bad and tomorrow the 17th (Independence Day) we should see a bit more swell on the reef and beach breaks. But this will only last through till Monday before it tapers back off and down into the 1-3ft range for the remainder of the week.
G-land, drop us an email if you want to cash in on the 10% discount offer at the G-Land surf camp.
The boys from Kandui Surfing resort in the Mentawai’s have also sent us some sick sick photos of there recent swell and you’ll find those on there surf report page. Plus the crew from Macaroni’s Surf resort have also sent us new photos and surf reports from their part of the Ments.
