****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Good morning surfers and welcome back to the baliwaves.com original Bali surf and weather report website for todays fix. And if any of you are interested Scotto has loaded up a full batch of photos plus surf report from the surfing contest held at Padma St yesterday. You can check that out on our Readers Report Page.
This morning I had to hold awhile for the rain to stop before I could head down for a surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban. Well my first impression was a drop in wave size but after watching awhile it pretty much the same as yesterday with 1-2ft+ waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The first of our tides today was a 0.4mtr Low @ 6.00am then we have another solid 2.4mtr High at midday and then running back out for a dryish 0.1mtr Low around the 6.00pm mark. The ESE-SE Tradewind was only blowing light off-shore through the early hours of the morning, but now at 10.30am she’s starting to wind up into the 12-15knot class.
Kuta Reef was looking pretty ordinary and only showing waves in the knee to waist high range at best. But even so there was still at least a dozen surfers out there making the most of it.
Middle Reef was breaking nicely on the lower end of this mornings low tide producing waves in the waist to head high class. Once again there was at least a dozen surfers on it.
Airport Left as the tide started to roll back in was probably the most consistent out of the big three on the Outer reefs. Breaking in the waist to head high range but with more like 20+ surfers out there.
The beach breaks down along the Kuta to Legian stretch would have a few waist to chest high waves for the people who don’t like surfing over coral reef.
Uluwatu would once again be the best bet for a surf along Bali’s West Coast today and I’m sure wave height would have to still be coming through in the waist to head high plus range on the Main Peak.
Weather wise out there this morning we did have about 15 minutes of rain around 7.00am and right now the sky is still overcast with cloud. Temperature wise though we can still expect the mercury to reach 28-29 degree’s Celsius. The water temperature has cooled right down to about 19 degree’s Celsius due to the strong off-shore wind continually cooling the surface layer of water.
Swell Forecast ; (16th – 22nd) Our short range expectations are not looking too bad and tomorrow the 17th (Independence Day) we should see a bit more swell on the reef and beach breaks. But this will only last through till Monday before it tapers back off and down into the 1-3ft range for the remainder of the week.
Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp7,950 – Rp8,000 depending on location. While the US$ is still pretty stable at Rp9,125.
G-land, drop us an email if you want to cash in on the 10% discount offer at the G-Land surf camp.
