****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Good morning to all you surfers tuning in for the baliwaves.com daily (7/7) surf and weather report coming to ya’s live from your favourite surfing holiday destination of Bali.
This morning I was down taking a surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban at 7.00am to find wave height is still pretty much the same as yesterday, holding in there at 1-2ft+ between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The first of our tides today was a 0.3mtr Low @ 7.00am and then we’ll have a 2.2mtr High filling in around 1.00pm. Wind direction is coming outta the ESE-SE and straight off-shore between Kuta and Uluwatu. Courtesy of the Tradewind.
Kuta Reef was too low at the time but there was hope for a smallish 1-2 footer out there on the rising tide.
Middle Reef was breaking nicely in the chest to head high range being better suited to the lower end of the tide. And make no mistake there were already at least 20 surfers in the water at the time I was checking.
Airport Left was also a bit too shallow for the early paddle but on my last surf check at 10.00am it was breaking at a consistent waist to shoulder high plus. Airports will be the best bet for a paddle on the Outer Reefs while the tide is running in.
Looking for something soft and easy to surf today try the beach breaks around Half Way Kuta between 11.00am and 2.00pm. Ya should be able to find some clean little waves along that stretch of sand.
Uluwatu should be still providing some head to head high plus surf for the crew staying down on the Bukit (quite a few these days). And the Main Peak will be the best section of the reef down there around late morning through to midday.
Weather wise today here on the holiday island we had some cloud cover through the early morning but now at 10.30am it’s pretty much just blue sky and sunshine for the beach lovers. Heading for an expected high temperature of around 30 degree’s outta the shade. While the water temp is still cool at 19 degree’s Celsius.
Swell Forecast: (21st -26th) Ok well I’ve just had a quick peak at whats instore for us over the next week and it’s not looking to good but there’ll still be waves around for us all the same. Small waves over the remainder of the week, kinda yo-yo’ish, up and down with the tide. Then around Saturday we should see a neww swell fill in the gaps and provide us with some more opportunities and open up a few more locations.
Bali Fishing New’s ; Yesterday I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.
Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp7,950 – Rp8,000 depending on location. While the US$ is still pretty stable at Rp9,125.
G-land, drop us an email if you want to cash in on the 10% discount offer at the G-Land surf camp.
The boys from Kandui Surfing resort in the Mentawai’s have also sent us some sick sick photos of there recent swell and you’ll find those on there surf report page. Plus the crew from Macaroni’s Surf resort have also sent us new photos and surf reports from their part of the Ments.
And just a reminder that we still have some original baliwaves.com T-Shirts (AU$13.00) and FREE stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are AU$16.00 for a room with big double bed and AU$30.00 for a twin share room.
Don’t forget if any of you lot want to grab some photos or video footage surfing here in Bali and we can easily arrange it for ya. Or if ya check out the Wotashot.com banner you might even find a photo of you on your last trip to Bali.
Money saver tip #752 : Anyone wanting to get out on a 3 island 7 day boat charter to Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa drop me a line cause I was talking to an operator last night and he’s offering the all inclusive trips for just AU$600.00 !!! Start organizing your crew now for the recommencement of these charters in March 08. Better still charter the boat privately with up to 10 of your friends for AU$6,000. all inclusive.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Finally, I just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
