****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Hello surfers and welcome aboard or the baliwaves.com Sunday Session and your daily surf and weather report. Well yesterday we were hoping for some much needed new swell to arrive but all in all it was a no show. As you can see in the latest photos we have of Uluwatu yesterday wave height was still only just doing head high. Not too mention combined with a howling off-shore ESE-SE wind gusting up to 18knot.
This morning I was still hoping to see a bit more swell when I went down for a 6.30am surf recon of the Outer Reefs. But no, wave height is still only showing in the 1-2ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Wind direction is coming outta the ESE-SE gusting up to 12 knot and will only increase in strength through the morning. The first of our tides today is going to be a 0.6mtr Low @ 9.00am and then we’ll have a 1.8mtr High @ 3.00pm.
There were 3 surfers in the water riding Middle Reef this morning, but wave height was only breaking in the waist to chest high plus range. Even so I suppose the boys woulda been having fun with it.
Kuta Reef had a small wave breaking in the waist to waist high plus height, but with the tide still running out it’s gunna be too shallow until midday.
Likewise at Airport Left too shallow, come midday you will be able to find a windy waist to chest high wave at Airports.
Uluwatu would be picking a touch more swell, but even so I’d imagine it would only be in the chest to head high range.
Later this afternoon the beach breaks up along the Half Way to Legian stretch will have some small waves. But you’d be wasting your time until the tide hits the top of the high.
Weather wise today we have a sunny Sunday coming on and a good day for the beach goers. Plenty of blue sky and we should see the mercury hit a high temperature in the 29-31 degree range outta the shade.
Swell Forecast (24th – 30th) Well I’m sorry to say that it’s not looking to good over the next week folks. More of these small waves in the waist to head high plus range (depending on location) over the next 4-5days. At this stage it looks like sometime around next Saturday we’ll see some decent swell on our reefs. Anyway I’ll be keeping an eye on the waves for ya’s and will update if there are any changes.
Bali Fishing New’s ; Yesterday I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.
Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp7,800 – Rp7,900 depending on location. While the US$ is still pretty stable at Rp9,100.
G-land, drop us an email if you want to cash in on the 10% discount offer at the G-Land surf camp.
The boys from Kandui Surfing resort in the Mentawai’s have also sent us some sick sick photos of there recent swell and you’ll find those on there surf report page. Plus the crew from Macaroni’s Surf resort have also sent us new photos and surf reports from their part of the Ments.
We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are AU$16.00 for a room with big double bed and AU$30.00 for a twin share room
