***MORNING SURF UP-DATE*** Good morning to all you surfers and thanks for tuning into your baliwaves for the daily (7/7) run down on surfing and weather conditions here on your No.1 surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok this morning after a big nights sleep I was up early and down on the beach at 6.30am for the recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban. And just for those of you yet to experience Bali Tuban is a sleepy little suburb just to the south of the hustle and bustle (not to mention kaotic traffic) of Kuta. It’s also where you can find the perfect waves of Kuta Reef, Middle Reef and Airport Left & Right. Anyway, wave height this morning is still showing in the 2-3ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left.
The first of our tides today will be a 2.2mtr High @ 10.00am and then she’ll be bottoming out for a 0.3mtr Low around 4.00pm. And with the New Moon set to rise on the 31st of August we’ll start to see some even bigger tide range difference’s over the following few days.
Wind direction was coming lightly outta the ESE @ 2-5knot and maybe even a touch variable.
Kuta Reef had some small waves coming through in the waist to waist high plus at the time I was down on the beach but I didn’t see anyone in the line-up.
Middle Reef was a better option with wave height coming through consistently in the chest to head high plus class and there were surfers already out there getting some nice rides.
Airport Left breaking in the waist to chest high plus range at the time and as the tide pushes in later this morning will more than likely be worth a paddle.
Uluwatu would be scoring more swell and you could count on wave height beight in the 3-4ft+ range down there this morning.
Weather wise this morning once again we have a solid blanket of cloud over us. Hopefully though when the Tradewind kicks in later this morning we’ll get back to blue sky and sunshine.
Tomorrow here in Bali is “Hari Raya Kuningan†and another special day for the Balinese Hindu. So tomorrows surf up-date won’t be on line until later in the afternoon.
Swell Forecast ; Ok so the charts have changed slightly and now it looks like we should still have plenty of waves in the 2-4ft+ range through the remainder of today and into tomorrow (Thursday). Then it’s showing a drop in size back into the 2-3ft+ range for Friday and into Saturday morning. Sometime through the late afternoon of Saturday we should see a new swell generating system hitting our reef breaks producing waves in the 4-6ft+ range peaking through Sunday and into Monday. Before tapering off back down into the 2-3ft+ range come next Tuesday
Bali Fishing New’s ; Yesterday I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.
Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp7,800 – Rp7,900 depending on location. While the US$ is still pretty stable at Rp9,100.
G-land, We should have some new photos fresh outta G-land for ya’s later today so tune in later if you wanna see whats been going down in camp. You can also drop us an email if you want to cash in on the 10% discount offer at the G-Land surf camp.
The boys from Kandui Surfing resort in the Mentawai’s have also sent us some sick sick photos of there recent swell and you’ll find those on there surf report page. Plus the crew from Macaroni’s Surf resort have also sent us new photos and surf reports from their part of the Ments.
We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are AU$16.00 for a room with big double bed and AU$30.00 for a twin share room
And just a reminder that we still have some original baliwaves.com T-Shirts (AU$13.00) and FREE stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Don’t forget if any of you lot want to grab some photos or video footage surfing here in Bali and we can easily arrange it for ya. Or if ya check out the Wotashot.com banner you might even find a photo of you on your last trip to Bali.
Money saver tip #752 : Anyone wanting to get out on a 3 island 7 day boat charter to Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa drop me a line cause I was talking to an operator last night and he’s offering the all inclusive trips for just AU$600.00 !!! Start organizing your crew now for the recommencement of these charters in March 08. Better still charter the boat privately with up to 10 of your friends for AU$6,000. all inclusive.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Finally, I just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
