****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** Howdy folks and thanks for dropping in for the baliwaves.com Sunday Session. And we have been busy over here in Bali today I tell ya. I didn’t get a look at the Outer Reefs here in Tuban until around 2.30pm. But there were some nice waves in the 2-4ft range coming through between Kuta Reef and Airport Left.
I was on the road for Balian just after 5.00am this morning and after a fairly sedate drive we pulled into the car park around 7.20am. Unfortunately the wind was already coming outta the ESE-SE @ 4-7knot and cross / off-shore. But even so surfing conditions were still clean and smooth on the left and right hand river mouth peak. There was a mellow crew in the water of around 25 surfers and it’s a pretty rare day at Balian to find a wave hungry crew. Usually the surfers that head up there are laid back and friendly.
Anyway wave height was pushing the 3-5ft class with a lot of waves going through un-ridden. Surfing conditions were good through till around 10.30am when the Tradewind picked up in strength.
The first of our tides today was a 2.4mtr High @ 10.00am and then she’ll be bottoming out for a 0.3mtr Low around the 4.30pm mark. We also have the New Moon rising today.
Uluwatu ; well Scotto was down on the bukit this morning taking some photos of Uluwatu and you can read Scott’s full report from Ulu and see his photos of course on our Readers Report Page.
Weather conditions , we’ll were we were it was over cast and cloudy till the time we headed back to Tuban at lunch time. We even had a few breef moments of rain fall. But now at 3.00pm it’s a hot and sunny afternoon here in Tuban.
Ok so it’s been another super Sunday surf wise around Bali today. And it’s not too late to get down to your local travel agent and lock in a ticket and clock up some tube time in Bali. Don’t forget you can drop us an email through the “Contact†link if you have any questions that might help your next vist to the holiday island run a bit smoother.
Swell Forecast ; Ok so the charts have changed slightly and now it looks like we should still have plenty of waves in the 2-4ft+ range through the remainder of today and into tomorrow (Thursday). Then it’s showing a drop in size back into the 2-3ft+ range for Friday and into Saturday morning. Sometime through the late afternoon of Saturday we should see a new swell generating system hitting our reef breaks producing waves in the 4-6ft+ range peaking through Sunday and into Monday. Before tapering off back down into the 2-3ft+ range come next Tuesday
Bali Fishing New’s ; Yesterday I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.
Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp7,700 – Rp7,800 depending on location. While the US$ is still pretty stable at Rp9,100.
G-land, We should have some new photos fresh outta G-land for ya’s later today so tune in later if you wanna see whats been going down in camp. You can also drop us an email if you want to cash in on the 10% discount offer at the G-Land surf camp.
The boys from Kandui Surfing resort in the Mentawai’s have also sent us some sick sick photos of there recent swell and you’ll find those on there surf report page. Plus the crew from Macaroni’s Surf resort have also sent us new photos and surf reports from their part of the Ments.
We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are AU$16.00 for a room with big double bed and AU$30.00 for a twin share room
And just a reminder that we still have some original baliwaves.com T-Shirts (AU$13.00) and FREE stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Don’t forget if any of you lot want to grab some photos or video footage surfing here in Bali and we can easily arrange it for ya. Or if ya check out the Wotashot.com banner you might even find a photo of you on your last trip to Bali.
Money saver tip #752 : Anyone wanting to get out on a 3 island 7 day boat charter to Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa drop me a line cause I was talking to an operator last night and he’s offering the all inclusive trips for just AU$600.00 !!! Start organizing your crew now for the recommencement of these charters in March 08. Better still charter the boat privately with up to 10 of your friends for AU$6,000. all inclusive.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Finally, I just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
