****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE**** Hello friends of Bali and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves.com for your daily look at surfing and weather conditions here on the No.1 surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Well after an extremely late night last night helping out with an emergency with one of my friends family I finally got to bed around 1.00pm. So it wasn’t until around 8.00am that I had my first surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban. There’s still a good amount of swell hitting the Outers between Kuta Reef and Airport Left, ranging from 2-4ft+.
Wind direction is blowing hard outta the ESE-SE with gusts up to 17knot putting a little bit of chop on the wave face, but hey, it’s still blowing straight off-shore all the same.
Tide wise the first of our tides today was a solid 2.4mtr High @ 11.00am and then she’ll be bottoming out for a reef exposing 0.1mtr Low @ 5.00pm
Kuta Reef was producing some very nice waves this morning as the tide was running in. The set waves were easily a couple of feet over head and peeling off for a good 80yrds. No shortage of surfers either with a crowd of around 35 surfers in the line-up.
Middle Reef was picking up some slightly bigger waves but with the tide running in wasn’t quite at it’s best. Middle’s will start to improve through the afternoon session as it becomes too low for KR and AL.
Airport left was breaking the most consistently with set waves in the 3-4ft range. There was also a pretty good crew of around 30 surfers out there as well.
Medewi : I had a phone in report from up the coast at Medewi from one of our guests who’s been up there over night. Tony said there were some nice 3-4 footers peeling off through early to mid morning before the Tradewind picked up in strength.
Uluwatu is still breaking in the 4-6ft range on the Main Peak and thanks to Sam Kench for these latest photos he dropped off to us around 11.00am.
Weather wise today it’s a nice change to see a blue sky instead of the overcast conditions we have had over the last couple of weeks. Temperature wise outside right now it would easily be around 30 degree Celsius outta the shade.
Don’t forget you can drop us an email through the “Contact†link if you have any questions that might help your next vist to the holiday island run a bit smoother.
Bali Fishing New’s ; Yesterday I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.
Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp7,700 – Rp7,800 depending on location. While the US$ is still pretty stable at Rp9,100.
We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are AU$16.00 for a room with big double bed and AU$30.00 for a twin share room
You can also drop us an email if you want to cash in on the 10% discount offer at the G-Land surf camp.
The boys from Kandui Surfing resort in the Mentawai’s have also sent us some sick sick photos of there recent swell and you’ll find those on there surf report page. Plus the crew from Macaroni’s Surf resort have also sent us new photos and surf reports from their part of the Ments.
And just a reminder that we still have some original baliwaves.com T-Shirts (AU$13.00) and FREE stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.

Start organizing your crew now for the recommencement of these charters in March 08. Better still charter the boat privately with up to 10 of your friends for AU$6,000. all inclusive.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Finally, I just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
