****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Good morning crew and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves.com for your daily run down on surfing and weather conditions here on the N0.1 surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok I was down on the beach again at 7.00am to find wave height looking like it has just crept up at notch in size compared to yesterday. Actual wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was breaking in the 3 -5ft+ range, that’s head to double head high.
Surfing conditions are clean and glassy even though the wind is light on-shore coming outta the WSW @ 2-3knot. Hopefully we’ll see the wind swing back to the ESE around midday, like it did yesterday.
Tidewise today the first will be a 2.3mtr High @ 11.00am and then she’ll be bottoming out for a 0.2mtr Low @ 5.00pm
Kuta Reef is already starting to get busy this morning with around 35 surfers out there and there’ll probably be more as the tide fills in. Wave height was a consistent 2-4ft and peeling off for a good 75mtrs. If the wind swings off-shore before 1.30pm it’ll be cranking at KR.
Middle Reef was easily pushing 5ft or double head high and there was also a pretty solid crew of 20+ surfers in the water at the time I was on the beach.
Airport Left had 2-4 footers breaking but looking a bit ordinary with the light on-shore wind.
Uluwatu ; I had a phone through surf report from down at Ulu and my friend said that Ulu was a solid 6ft+ with 7 surfers in the water at 7.00am.
Canggu , our man on the scene at Canggu (Kenchy) is currently on his way here to Home Base to deliver us some photos that he shot this morning so I’ll have them up on site by lunch time (Bali time)
Ok so there’s still plenty of swell hitting our reefs and you’d be able to take ya pick of just about any location on both the West and East Coasts this morning. I also managed to load ya’s up a NEW VIDEO CLIP this morning from some footage I shot out at Kuta Reef yesterday.
Weather wise it’s a pretty fair day outside this morning with about 70% blue sky and should only improve as the day gets going.
Swell Forecast (10th – 16th) So the predictors are calling for wave height to be tapering off today through till Saturday. Then with the Full Moon set to rise on Sunday the 14th we will start to see a new swell generator producing some medium sized waves peaking on Monday the 15th. Then right behind her we have another system that will kick back in around the 17th. So it’s looking real good with plenty of waves and locations on offer over the coming week. And even further out around the 20th-21st we could be in for the biggest swell of the year !
G-Land ; thanks to the G-land Surf Camp for sending us some new photos from G-land. And you can take a look at those on the G-Land page under the report section. You can also drop us an email if you want to cash in on the 10% discount offer at the G-Land surf camp
Mentawai Islands ; the crew from both the Kandui Surf Resort (NEW PHOTOS) and Macaroni’s (NEW PHOTOS) have sent us through some new reports and photos so if your interested in seeing whats been happening up in that region of Indonesia check out both those surf reports in our report section.
Don’t forget you can drop us an email through the “Contact†link if you have any questions that might help your next vist to the holiday island run a bit smoother.
We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are AU$16.00 for a room with big double bed and AU$30.00 for a twin share room
Bali Fishing New’s ; I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.
Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp7,450 – Rp7,500 depending on location. While the US$ is still pretty stable at Rp9,150.
And just a reminder that we still have some original baliwaves.com T-Shirts (AU$13.00) and FREE stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Don’t forget if any of you lot want to grab some photos or video footage surfing here in Bali and we can easily arrange it for ya. Or if ya check out the Wotashot.com banner you might even find a photo of you on your last trip to Bali.
Money saver tip #752 : Anyone wanting to get out on a 3 island 7 day boat charter to Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa drop me a line cause I was talking to an operator last night and he’s offering the all inclusive trips for just AU$600.00 !!! Start organizing your crew now for the recommencement of these charters in March 08. Better still charter the boat privately with up to 10 of your friends for AU$6,000. all inclusive.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
