***A DAY LATE… SURF UP-DATE**** Well yeah, I wasn’t even gunna bother with a report for yesterday. Because as I saw it the wind was howling outta the WSW @ 12-14knot. But our man Scotto knew different and handed over these photos he shot at Canggu yesterday. Me I thought I’d make the most of the bad conditions and go out trolling all afternoon (12.00noon – 7.30pm). Anyway here’s what Scott had to say on the waves of Canggu yesty.
Having the use of a car today I was keen to do two things I enjoy. Surfing and taking photos of surfing. I was on the road by 5am and headed north. Swell predictions had waves backing off a touch today and on arrival at my first stop, that seemed to be the case. I surfed from 5:45am till around 8am before calling it quits and heading to Canggu.
I went to Canggu to shoot cause it such a cool place to take photos. Great waves breaking close to the shore. There is also usually a cross section of surfers trying to negiotiate the line up and get their daily wave fix. While I was on scene the waves were breaking in the 2-4ft range, chest to a little over head on the sets. There was about 20 surfing the river mouth but the better action today was happening on the reef in front of the warungs. All though not as consistent it was offerring the opportunity to get barrelled more often than its brother up the beach. All up there was only about a dozen on the reef but with Go-GO (wildcard winner into the search 08 event) and a 2 or 3 other local hot shots waves for the tourists were a little harder to come by. The same went for the river mouth with Tipi Jabrik and a couple of other locals tearing that section of beach apart.
I hung out on the beach for a couple of hours and the wind was pretty light while I was there. It only started to blow a little stronger around 10am but not enough to ruin the waves. When I left everyone was still ripping apart the three peaks and they would have only got better if the wind remains light while the tide continues its run in. I have another appointment though so for me it was time to call it quits. So I hope you like this latest lot to come out of beautiful Bali. Till next time. Scott!
Swell Forecast (10th – 16th) So the predictors are calling for wave height to be tapering off today through till Saturday. Then with the Full Moon set to rise on Sunday the 14th we will start to see a new swell generator producing some medium sized waves peaking on Monday the 15th. Then right behind her we have another system that will kick back in around the 17th. So it’s looking real good with plenty of waves and locations on offer over the coming week. And even further out around the 20th-21st we could be in for the biggest swell of the year !
