****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** Hi crew and welcome back to your baliwaves.com daily surf and weather report for today.
My first surf check of the Outer Reefs this morning at 8.00am was still showing some ok size ranging from 2-4ft+ between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. But by the time I lagged around down at the beach and then going home to grab my board wave height was already starting to drop back into the 2-3ft+ range.
Surfing conditions were perfect with a clean ESE off-shore wind blowing in the 4-8knot range and a water temperature of around 23 degree’s
Tide wise the first of our tides today was a 0.1mtr Low @ 6.00am and then a 2.3mtr High @ 12.00noon and a 0.2mtr Low to finish off the day at 6.00pm.
Kuta Reef was breaking pretty good through the mid morning mark with wave height in the 2-3ft range and only around 20-25 surfers in the line-up.
Middle Reef had around a similar amount of surfers in the water with wave height in the 2-4ft range, Middle’s was best up until the tide filled in at midday and will be on again later this afternoon on the run out tide.
Airport Left also had a few nice fun sized set waves in the 2-3ft+ range but with a solid crew on it.
Keramas ; I had an sms report from Kyle who was at Keramas on Bali’s east Coast this morning and he reckoned it was cranking at 7.30am with some perfect 3-4ft right hand barrels on offer.
Weather wise today around Tuban perfect holiday conditions with blue sky and sunshine and a top temperature of around 31 degree’s Celsius.
Up-dates : ok I’ve finally gone and loaded over 50 New Photos into the Kuta Cam Gallery for September. The boys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through more high quality photos and reports. And I’ll be heading into the G-land Surf Camp office later this afternoon to see if they have some new photos for us. Plus the New Video Clip from Kuta Reef is now visible thanks to our friends at Revver.com
I also just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
Swell Forecast (10th – 16th) So the predictors are calling for wave height to be tapering off today through till Saturday. Then with the Full Moon set to rise on Sunday the 14th we will start to see a new swell generator producing some medium sized waves peaking on Monday the 15th. Then right behind her we have another system that will kick back in around the 17th. So it’s looking real good with plenty of waves and locations on offer over the coming week. And even further out around the 20th-21st we could be in for the biggest swell of the year !
G-Land ; thanks to the G-land Surf Camp for sending us some new photos from G-land. And you can take a look at those on the G-Land page under the report section. You can also drop us an email if you want to cash in on the 10% discount offer at the G-Land surf camp
Mentawai Islands ; the crew from both the Kandui Surf Resort (NEW PHOTOS) and Macaroni’s (NEW PHOTOS) have sent us through some new reports and photos so if your interested in seeing whats been happening up in that region of Indonesia check out both those surf reports in our report section.
Don’t forget you can drop us an email through the “Contact†link if you have any questions that might help your next vist to the holiday island run a bit smoother.
We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are AU$16.00 for a room with big double bed and AU$30.00 for a twin share room
Bali Fishing New’s ; I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.
Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp7,450 – Rp7,500 depending on location. While the US$ is still pretty stable at Rp9,150.
And just a reminder that we still have some original baliwaves.com T-Shirts (AU$13.00) and FREE stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Don’t forget if any of you lot want to grab some photos or video footage surfing here in Bali and we can easily arrange it for ya. Or if ya check out the Wotashot.com banner you might even find a photo of you on your last trip to Bali.
Money saver tip #752 : Anyone wanting to get out on a 3 island 7 day boat charter to Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa drop me a line cause I was talking to an operator last night and he’s offering the all inclusive trips for just AU$600.00 !!! Start organizing your crew now for the recommencement of these charters in March 08. Better still charter the boat privately with up to 10 of your friends for AU$6,000. all inclusive.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
