****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE**** Hello friends and a big welcome aboard the baliwaves.com first and original Bali surf and weather report this fine and sunny Monday.
Well I didn’t even bother to take a look at surfing conditions on the Outer Reefs this morning after receiving a phone call from a friend who lives down at Uluwatu saying there was a definite increase in wave height down there.
I arrived around 8.30am to find wave height in the 3-4ft range with some screaming barrels warping down through the low tide Racetrack section. Surfing conditions were pristine with a light ESE-SE off-shore wind. On arrival there were only around 25 surfers scattered between the Main Peak and Racetrack section. But as the tide bottomed out and then started to run back in that number quickly grew into the 70’s but spread out from the Temple to the Track.
As you can see in these current photos I took this morning it was a sheer Tube fest for the surfers that made the effort to head down to Uluwatu today. And a big relief to see some decent waves around Bali, and with the swell expected to increase a touch more over the next 24hrs it’s only gunna be getting better. There was also no shortage of body boarders taking advantage of the shallow tubes the racetrack was throwing up and I’ll try and get some new photos loaded onto the BB page later this evening.
Coming home past Padang Padang and Impossible’s there was plenty of lines bening down the reef at Impossible’s in the 2-3ft range. But Padang Padang was looking sad and only showing 1-1ft+.
Tide wise today we had a 0.6mtr Low @ 9.00am and then we’ll be in for a 1.6mtr High around 3.00pm.
Weather wise it’s been perfect with more or less just blue sky and sunshine here along Bali’s South Western Coastline. Temperatiure wise right now at 12.30pm the mercury would be sitting around the 31 degree Celsius mark.
G-Land ; thanks to the G-land Surf Camp and resident surf photographer John Hepler for sending us some new photos from G-land. And you can take a look at those on the G-Land page under the report section. You can also drop us an email if you want to cash in on the 10% discount offer at the G-Land surf camp
Swell Forecast ; (3rd -10th) Lets just hope the forecasters have got it wrong. Currently the charts are calling for small to micro sized waves for the remainder of this week. Then sometime around Sunday things will be getting back to normal for Bali with a moderate swell arriving. It’s also looking good for another swell behind that one. So all in all, not much happening for rest of this week but next week it will be on everywhere !
Mentawai Islands ; the crew from both the Kandui Surf Resort and Macaroni’s have sent us through some new reports and photos so if your interested in seeing whats been happening up in that region of Indonesia check out both those surf reports in our report section.
Don’t forget you can drop us an email through the “Contact†link if you have any questions that might help your next vist to the holiday island run a bit smoother.
Bali Fishing New’s ; I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.
Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp7,650 – Rp7,700 depending on location. While the US$ is still pretty stable at Rp9,100.
We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are AU$16.00 for a room with big double bed and AU$30.00 for a twin share room
And just a reminder that we still have some original baliwaves.com T-Shirts (AU$13.00) and FREE stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Don’t forget if any of you lot want to grab some photos or video footage surfing here in Bali and we can easily arrange it for ya. Or if ya check out the Wotashot.com banner you might even find a photo of you on your last trip to Bali.
Money saver tip #752 : Anyone wanting to get out on a 3 island 7 day boat charter to Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa drop me a line cause I was talking to an operator last night and he’s offering the all inclusive trips for just AU$600.00 !!! Start organizing your crew now for the recommencement of these charters in March 08. Better still charter the boat privately with up to 10 of your friends for AU$6,000. all inclusive.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Finally, I just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
