AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** Hello again to all you surfers tuning back into the baliwaves and I thought I’d just bring ya’s up to scratch with whats been happening around these parts this afternoon. Well as I mentioned this morning there has been some nice waves breaking on the Outer Reefs. And I’d have to say Kuta Reef was probably the best pick around lunch time. But since around midday wave height has been slowly backing off and right now at 3.30pm wave height is only showing in the 2-3ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left.
Scott has brought us some new photos from Canggu this morning and you can see Scott’s photos and read what he had to say on surfing conditions up there. In our Readers Report Page. So make sure ya check it out.
****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Good morning crew and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves.com for more on Bali’s surfing and weather conditions today. And it is starting to shape up for a top days surfing here along Bali’s South West Coast.
I was down on the beach at 7.00am to see what was happening on the Outer Reefs and wave height has jacked over night into the 3-4ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. So with that knowledge you can count on there being smiles on the faces of thousands of surfers all over Indonesia today.
Tide wise ; The first of our tides today will be a 0.8mtr Low @ 10.00am and then push back in for a 1.3mtr High @ 4.00pm. Not a lot of difference at the moment being in the middle of the Moon Phase.
Wind direction was light on-shore earlier coming outta the WNW @ 1-3knot. But around 8.00am was already starting to swing back ESE and off-shore between Kuta and Uluwatu.
Kuta Reef is showing excellent potential for waves today. At the time wave height was a consistent 2-3ft+, but with the tide still running out. As the tide turns and starts to fill back in towards midday it’ll be going off out there.
Middle Reef was breaking nicely and with a little more gusto in the 3-4ft+ division. Middle should be delivering good waves all day.
Airport Left had 2-3ft+ and there’ll so nice waves out there like KR when the tide starts to push back in.
Airport Rights woulda had few waves in the 2-3ft+ range as well for anyone who was around there at first light.
Canggu ; Scotto is back in action and just phoned through from Canggu where he reckons wave height is breaking in the 2-3ft+ but with a solid crowd in the water early this morning. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy with the wind just starting to turn cross-shore now at 8.30am. So we’ll have some new photos from Canggu when Scott gets back to Home Base later this morning.
Uluwatu , we’ve had a phone in report from Uluwatu and wave height down on the southern end of the island is breaking in the 3-5ft class. But surfing conditions were still in need of the off-shore wind to tidy things up. There were 35 surfers spread between the Main Peak and Racetrack sections at 8.30am.
Ok so that’s whats happening at just a few of the many famous waves on offer around Bali this morning. I’m also pretty sure that there woulda been plenty on offer over on the East Coast with the light wind we had through the early AM. And remember it’s neve too late to book a holiday in Bali we virtually have perfect waves breaking all year round.
G-Land ; thanks to the G-land Surf Camp for sending us some new photos from G-land. And you can take a look at those on the G-Land page under the report section. You can also drop us an email if you want to cash in on the 10% discount offer at the G-Land surf camp
Swell Forecast ; (3rd -10th) Lets just hope the forecasters have got it wrong. Currently the charts are calling for small to micro sized waves for the remainder of this week. Then sometime around Sunday things will be getting back to normal for Bali with a moderate swell arriving. It’s also looking good for another swell behind that one. So all in all, not much happening for rest of this week but next week it will be on everywhere !
Mentawai Islands ; the crew from both the Kandui Surf Resort and Macaroni’s have sent us through some new reports and photos so if your interested in seeing whats been happening up in that region of Indonesia check out both those surf reports in our report section.
Don’t forget you can drop us an email through the “Contact†link if you have any questions that might help your next vist to the holiday island run a bit smoother.
We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are AU$16.00 for a room with big double bed and AU$30.00 for a twin share room
Bali Fishing New’s ; I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.
Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp7,600 – Rp7,700 depending on location. While the US$ is still pretty stable at Rp9,150.
And just a reminder that we still have some original baliwaves.com T-Shirts (AU$13.00) and FREE stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Don’t forget if any of you lot want to grab some photos or video footage surfing here in Bali and we can easily arrange it for ya. Or if ya check out the Wotashot.com banner you might even find a photo of you on your last trip to Bali.
Money saver tip #752 : Anyone wanting to get out on a 3 island 7 day boat charter to Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa drop me a line cause I was talking to an operator last night and he’s offering the all inclusive trips for just AU$600.00 !!! Start organizing your crew now for the recommencement of these charters in March 08. Better still charter the boat privately with up to 10 of your friends for AU$6,000. all inclusive.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Finally, I just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
