Bali Surf Report – October 15 2008

****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE**** Howdy folks and welcome back to your baliwaves.com for the daily run down on Bali’s surfing and weather conditions today.

My first sufr check today wasn’t unti 9.00AM because I had to be at Denpasar International for the arrival of another guest for Home base here in Tuban. And just as I was getting back to Home base for the orientation the first shift of Home Base surfers were just getting back from their 4hr dawn session. Anyway there’s still plenty of waves breaking on the Outer Reefs (Kuta Reef to Airport left) ranging between chest to head high plus.

Surfing conditions are once again faultless with a vlean ESE off-shore Tradewind fanning the ocean upto 8knot.

Tide wise today the first was a 2.1mtr High @ 11.00AM and then we’ll have another 0.4mtr Low around 5.00PM.

Earlier the dawn patrollers were surfing at Middle Reef where they assure me wave height was coming through consistently in the shoulder to head high range, with the occasional 4 foot freak set. Then as the tide continued to push in for the midday High Kuta Reef and Airport left started to produce some fun sized head high waves. Later this afternoon Middle Reef will be the best bet for the late afternoon session.

Weather wise I’d have to say it’s one of the hottest days we’ve had this year. I just come back from the beach now at 12.30PM and the temperature outta the shade would have to have been around 36 degree’s Celsius.

Datah Primary School Project ; Well today I finally made time… to take a run up to the Datah Primary School with intentions of handing over the funds to complete the “paving objective”. Well yesterday I started to withdraw the funds from my local bank account via the ATM. This morning after trying to complete the withdrawal I found that every “BCA” bank ATM was dry of cash or turned off, re – economy crisis. But what funds I had already withdrawn I handed over to the school head master with a promise to return with the balance within the week. Anyway the amount I handed over was still enough to get the paving started. So as soon as the paving job gets underway I’ll post some photos of the progress.

Photo Up-Date ; The good guys at the G-Land Surf Camp have sent us through some new photos from the last swell we had.

This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are US$15.00 for a room with big double bed and US$28.00 for a twin share room

Bali Fishing New’s ; I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.

Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp6,150 – Rp6,250 depending on location.
