****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Hey crew thatnks for dropping by the baliwaves.com for the Sunday Session full run down on todays surf and weather conditions live from everybodies favourite surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Well there was really no need for a surf report yesterday simply because there wasn’t any. It was pretty darn small right along Bali’s South Western coastline with Uluwatu about the only place breaking. But late yesterday afternoon the new swell started to show right on schedule.
This mornings 7.00AM surf check of the Outer Reefs was showing wave height ranging in the 3-5ft or head to double head high between Kuta Reef and Airport Right.
Surfing conditions were clean and smooth with the wind light and variable at 1-2knot first up before the ESE kicked in and tidied it right up.
Tide wise the first today was a 1.8mtr High @ 8.00AM and then this afternoon she’ll be running back out for a 0.6mtr Low around 2.00PM.
Kuta Reef as ya’s can see in these current photos I shot this morning was breaking nicely in the chest to head high plus range. There were around 35 surfers in the water at the top of the tide but by the time I finished shooting at 10.00AM the numbers were down to around 15 and a lot of waves were going through unridden. Stand out surfer today had to be local Tuban boy Wayan “Yandaiâ€
Middle Reef was breaking much more solidly with some of the set waves pushing double head high. The tide was a touch to full for Middle’s but should be pretty good just afte lunch as the tide starts emptying out.
Airport Left was also breaking consistently in the shoulder to head high range with around 25 surfers in the line up.
Airport Right , A couple of the boys from here at Home Base snuck around to the right hander at 6.30AM and they said it was breaking nicely in the head high class. Until around 8.00AM when the reef taxi’s started unloading long boarding Japanese in high repatition.
Half Way Kuta , Rip Curl Indonesia are running the final event for the ISC down along there this morning and this is the final event for the 2008 season. So it’s a very important contest that will decide the over all best surfer for Indonesia. So if you’re here in Bali make sure you get down there today because the action will be hotter than the mid day temperature !!!
Down South , well you’d be able to take your pick of just about any location around Bali today. This mornings light and variable wind would have opened up the whole East Coast as well as places like Balangan, Impossible’s and of course Uluwatu would have been pushing the 5-6ft+ mark out on the Main Peak and Temple sections. Later this afternoon and you’ll find some hollow one’s at Bingin and the Racetrack.
Weather wise , More early morning rain strated the day off with cloud cover but now at 11.30AM it’s quickly breaking up and we’ll be in for more hot and sunny weather through the remainder of the day.
Swell Forecast 23rd – 29th , Hmmm, well nothing to look forward to through today and tomorrow at least. The charts are calling in a new swell to start showing on the reefs sometime late on Saturday though. So come Sunday we should have waves at just about all locations around Bali pushing into the double head high class at the more open beaches. This should continue into Monday before backing off again Tuesday. Then hopefully we’ll see another small system move through and perk up the surfing spirits on Wednesday / Thursday next week.
Photo Up-Date , The lads from the Macaroni Surf Resort have sent us in some new photos and news from there part of Indonesia. New surf reports from the Kandui Sur Resort and I’ll be checking in with the G-Land Surf Camp crew later this afternoon to see if they have anything for us.
I also just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.

We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are US$15.00 for a room with big double bed and US$28.00 for a twin share room
Bali Fishing New’s ; I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.
Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp6,550 – Rp6,600 depending on location. While the US$=Rp9,800 give or take 50 Rupiah.
And just a reminder that we still have some original baliwaves.com T-Shirts (AU$15.00) and FREE stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Don’t forget if any of you lot want to grab some photos or video footage surfing here in Bali and we can easily arrange it for ya. Or if ya check out the Wotashot.com banner you might even find a photo of you on your last trip to Bali.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
