****EVENING SURF UP-DATE**** Hi crew and I thought I’d better bring ya’s up to date with whats been happening surf and weather wise here on your happy little holiday island of Bali today.
Well not a great deal surf wise but all the same there was still plenty of options here along the West Coast for a paddle today. I took my first surf check of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban around 7.30AM. Wave height was only showing in the waist to chest high region between Kuta Reef and Airport Left, with Middle Reef being the best option to find a little something.
Surfing conditons were clean and tidy at the time with the wind coming outta the East @ 4-6knot. Then around 10.00AM it started to shift to all points of the compass before settling back into the off-shore ESE around 3.30PM
Looking for a wave today the best options along the West Coast were at Middle Reef through the early AM. Then as the tide started to push in for the midday high places like the numerous beach breaks up along the Kuta Half Way stretch, Balangan and Uluwatu were picking up more swell.
We are expecting a slight increase in wave height tomorrow and hopefully there’ll be enough to motivate me into shooting some new photos for you. Actually wave height is just going to be yo-yo’ing up and down over the coming week between the 2-4ft range.
Weather wise today it’s been a perfect beach day with plenty of blue sky and a hot hot hot midday temperature.
Travel Warning Dept ; So at long last it’s getting closer to the execusion of the terrorists responsible for the 2002 bombing of the Legian night clubs. And I’ve been getting a lot of email from Australians wanting to know if it is safe in Bali. Bali will always be just Bali, a holiday island in the tropics with fantastic local people to look after their guests. If your thinking about coming over for a surfing holiday but are concerned (re- travel warnings) I wouldn’t worry too much. I also emphasise the I. But if you were wanting to come over and party in the night clubs I would think twice. You can get just as drunk in your local night clubs etc at home. For the surfers who do come over you can guarantee that their will be less crowds in the water to deal with that’s for sure. And just to some it up, are we really 100% safe from terrorists anywhere ?
Photo Up-Date , The lads from the Macaroni Surf Resort have sent us in some new photos and news from there part of Indonesia. New surf reports from the Kandui Sur Resort and I’ll be checking in with the G-Land Surf Camp crew later this afternoon to see if they have anything for us.
I also just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
G-Land ; “SPECIAL OFFER FOR BALIWAVES.COM VIEWERS, 10% DISCOUNT” thanks to the G-land Surf Camp for sending us some new photos from G-land. And you can take a look at those on the G-Land page under the report section. You can also drop us an email if you want to cash in on the 10% discount offer at the G-Land surf camp.
Don’t forget you can drop us an email through the “Contact” link if you have any questions that might help your next vist to the holiday island run a bit smoother.
We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are US$15.00 for a room with big double bed and US$28.00 for a twin share room
Bali Fishing New’s ; I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.
Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp6,650 – Rp6,700 depending on location. While the US$=RP10,500 give or take 50 Rupiah.
And just a reminder that we still have some original baliwaves.com T-Shirts (AU$15.00) and FREE stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Don’t forget if any of you lot want to grab some photos or video footage surfing here in Bali and we can easily arrange it for ya. Or if ya check out the Wotashot.com banner you might even find a photo of you on your last trip to Bali.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
