****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE**** Hello to all you surfers tuning into the baliwaves.com for your daily fix of Bali surfing and weather information. And if your not here in Bali this is the next best thing.
I was up long before the crack of dawn this morning to see the boys from here at Home base off on there way up the coast to Balian (4.30AM). So after another quick power nap I was down doing the surf recon of the Outer Reefs at 7.00AM. Wave height on the Outers was only showing in the 1-2ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. But there was still some nice little waves breaking on Airports in the waist to chest high plus class.
Surfing conditions were ultra clean with the wind coming outta the East @ 3-5knot blowing straight off-shore between Kuta and Uluwatu.
Tide wise the first today was a 2.0mtr High @ 11.00AM and then we’ll see a 0.5mtr Low around 5.30PM
Uluwatu as you can see in these current photos I snapped off down there this morning was breaking very nicely in the 2-3ft+ range on the Main Peak straight out front of the cliff side café’s. When I arrived around 9.00AM there would have been lucky to have been 20 surfers in the water and by the time I left at 12.00 noon there would have been around 35. Today’s standout local surfer was an old friend of mine Wayan “Gobleg” Something I haven’t seen at Ulu bfor a long time was a 12-15ft+ Tiger shark cruising around about 300-500mtrs behind the surfers, un be known of course. But I don’t think there was any real danger…. As there were Spanish Mackeral galore jumping out of the water in the same vicinity.
On the way home I did a quick stop on the bridge over Padang Padang beach and watched a few 2-3ft sets peeling down the long reef of Impossible’s. There wasn’t too many surfers out there either at around 15+.
Weather wise today the morning started off a little gre and overcast but by midday we’ve got pretty well nothing but blue sky and sunshine.
I also managed to snap off a few new photos for the bodyboarding division of baliwaves.com and I’ll try and get those loaded up ASAP.
Hey and if anyone is looking for somewhere very quite, cosy and comfortable take a look at Michael Owens bungalow for rent in our bisiness directory.
Swell Forecast 23rd – 29th , Hmmm, well nothing to look forward to through today and tomorrow at least. The charts are calling in a new swell to start showing on the reefs sometime late on Saturday though. So come Sunday we should have waves at just about all locations around Bali pushing into the double head high class at the more open beaches. This should continue into Monday before backing off again Tuesday. Then hopefully we’ll see another small system move through and perk up the surfing spirits on Wednesday / Thursday next week.
Photo Up-Date , The lads from the Macaroni Surf Resort have sent us in some new photos and news from there part of Indonesia. New surf reports from the Kandui Sur Resort and I’ll be checking in with the G-Land Surf Camp crew later this afternoon to see if they have anything for us.
I also just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. The rooms are US$15.00 for a room with big double bed and US$28.00 for a twin share room
Bali Fishing New’s ; I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.
Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp6,650 – Rp6,700 depending on location. While the US$=RP10,500 give or take 50 Rupiah.
And just a reminder that we still have some original baliwaves.com T-Shirts (AU$15.00) and FREE stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Don’t forget if any of you lot want to grab some photos or video footage surfing here in Bali and we can easily arrange it for ya. Or if ya check out the Wotashot.com banner you might even find a photo of you on your last trip to Bali.
