****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Hello crew and thanks for hanging around to see whats been happening here on your favourite little island called Bali.
And as ya’s can see Christmas came early and it was Uluwatu in December !
Yes sir I was pretty happy when I went down for a surf check of the Outer Reefs to find that wave height was still only in the 1ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. But what really made me smile was feeling the wind coming out of the ENE and off-shore here along the West Coast.
Nothing really to say about the Outer Reefs except that it would have been good out there had there been some swell. But it didn’t take the boys and I from Home Base to make the decidion to head South for Uluwatu. Some where along the trip the wind swung more to the SW but surfing conditons were still clean an smooth on Uluwatu’s Main Peak section.
Tide wise the first today was a 1.8mtr High @ 11.00Am and then she was running out all afternoon for a 0.7mtr Low around the 4.30PM mark.
It sure was good to get back down to Uluwatu and chill out in the cliff side café (warung) and to catch up with some of my friends down there. As you can see wave height was averaging in the head high class with the occasional 4ft set waves. We hung out until 4,00Pm, but even as we were leaving the Racetrack section was starting to get better and better and the waves totally glass off.
Hopefully we will have more light winds and more Uluwatu again tomorrow, so make sure you check into the baliwaves.com. Even better if you’ve got a week or two to spare get down to your local travel agent and lock in a flight to Bali.
Weather wise we had plenty of rain through the early morning and it never let up until around 10.00Pm. But now at 6.00Pm the sky is actually looking good with only light cloud cover and lots of patches of blue.
The good guys from the Macaroni Surf Resort up in the Mentawai Islands have also sent us through an “end of season” wrap up and included some super special deals for anyone wanting to get in early and book for the coming 2009 season. So check that out on the Macaroni Report under Surf Reports.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you will find that 1AU$=Rp7,100 – 1US$=Rp10,550 give or take 100 Rupiah.
I also just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
