****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Hello surfers and thanks for tuning into your baliwaves.com for the latest news on surfing and weather conditions from the happy little holiday island of Bali.
Well as I mentioned in the last update we did go back across to Serangan in the afternoon but only to find wave height had slid back into the 1ft class (didn’t even open my camera box…) along the East Coast and on par with what we have here along the premier West Side. Yesterday the 17th and absolutely no change in wave height.
This mornings surf recon (just out of habit) of the Outer Reefs here in the sleepy little suburb of Tuban was almost depressing. Wave height is no showing, not showing. It’s pretty much dead flat ou there between Kuta Reef and Airport Left.
Wind direction this morning is freash out of the WSW @ 5-9knot and will more than likely increase in strength through out the day.
Tide wise the first of those is going to be a 0.2mtr Low @ 8.00Am and then running back up for a 2.0mtr High @ 2.00Pm
Looking for a wave today your going to have to be keen but never the less that’s what surfers are. Try hunting along the South Eastern end of the island for the best results. But I wouldn’t expect to find anything bigger than knee to waist high plus.
Swell Forecast ; Hmmm, well we have definitely been through a tough period swell wise over the last 3 weeks or so and still not much relief in sight. All the charts are showing for wave height to get even smaller over this week then hopefully a small pulse should come through around next Friday / Saturday putting wave height back into the 2-3ft+ range. Then further out around next Wednesday another small pulse should arrive.
The good guys from the Macaroni Surf Resort up in the Mentawai Islands have also sent us through an “end of season” wrap up and included some super special deals for anyone wanting to get in early and book for the coming 2009 season. So check that out on the Macaroni Report under Surf Reports.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you will find that 1AU$=Rp7,400 – 1US$=Rp10,950 give or take 100 Rupiah.
I also just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
G-Land ; “SPECIAL OFFER FOR BALIWAVES.COM VIEWERS, 10% DISCOUNT” thanks to the G-land Surf Camp for sending us some new photos from G-land. And you can take a look at those on the G-Land page under the report section. We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are US$15.00 for a room with big double bed and US$28.00 for a twin share room
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Bali Fishing New’s ; I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.
And just a reminder that we still have some original baliwaves.com T-Shirts (AU$15.00) and FREE stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
