****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Hello friends and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves.com for the daily run down on whats happening surf and weather wise here on your favourite surfing holiday island of Bali.
Firstly as you can see in these photos I captured yesterday I did make the run over to Serangan and there was some nice waves coming through for the 100 or so surfers that were in the water. Wave height was pushing double head high and the wind light on-shore out of the NE, but still clean and glassy.
Secondly I pity any one staying up in Kuta and wanting to travel anywhere by car. With the Christmas / New Year holidays in full swing Bali has been inundated with domestic tourists from the surrounding islands and it seem like all they want to do is drive around all day creating some hideous traffic grid locks.
This morning just as I was getting ready to head down the beach for a 5.45Am surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in downtown Tuban the rain started. And I mean rain about as heavy as it can get. Eventually I made it down there around 7.00Am to find wave height boosted another foot or so into the 2-4ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. No other surfer in sight and some clean off-shore waves breaking on Middle Reef up to head high plus.
Tide wise today we had 0.1mtr Low @ 6.00Am and then she’ll be filling back in for a 1.9mtr High @ 12.00noon.
Surfing conditions are clean and glassy with bugger all wind and that would be on both sides of the island, so hopefully that should spread em out a bit.
Weather wise , hmmm well a very wet start to the day but now at 11.30Am the temperature and humidity levels are both starting to rise. There could be a chance of further rain later this afternoon but temperature wise it’s still going to hit the low 30’s on the Celsius scale.
Swell Forecast ; Now this is a tricky one cause I’m only going on what I can make out of someone else’s predictions. The charts are currently calling for wave height in the 6-8ft face range but today it’s way bigger than that. Then they are calling for a new system to show on around next Thursday at 8-10ft face value that should run through till Saturday. Then even further out around the start of following week there could be another swell heading our way.
Don’t forget you can drop us an email through the “Contact” link if you have any questions that might help your next vist to the holiday island run a bit smoother.
The good guys from the Macaroni Surf Resort up in the Mentawai Islands have also sent us through an “end of season” wrap up and included some super special deals for anyone wanting to get in early and book for the coming 2009 season. So check that out on the Macaroni Report under Surf Reports.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you will find that 1AU$=Rp7,585 – 1US$=Rp10,650 give or take 100 Rupiah.
