****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Hello friends and welcome aboard your baliwaves.com for the last surf and weather report for 2008. And let me tell ya’s 2009 is going to be a huge year on baliwaves with a lot of new stuff penciled in. Firstly our video man Dewa Made is back from his 3 month holiday in Australia and will be back behind the lens in a couple more days. We also have been given a free hand with the G-Land Surf Camp so we’ll be all over that with plenty of photos and video from G-Land. Around March our photographer Scotto will be back in Bali and giving us his photos and reports. It’s going to be even better for old Slim, with all this help I’ll be able to do some surfing and fishing for a change.
So from the team here at Baliwaves.com (the original and only no bullshit Bali surf report) we want to wish all our viewers a spectacular New Year full of surf and sunshine !!!!!!!
Today’s 6.45Am surf recon of the Outer Reefs in the sleepy little seaside suburb of Tuban was showing wave height bumping up into the 2-4ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. But there wasn’t any other surfer in sight mainly due to the fact the wind was stiff on-shore out of the NW @ 5-8knot.
Tide wise , the first today was a 0.1mtr Low @ 7.00Am and then she’ll be running back in for a 2.0mtr High @ 1.00Pm
Looking for a wave today , well this morning just about every location between Nyang Nyang and Keramas would have been clean with straight off-shore wind. I won’t be going anywhere today I’m sorry as I want to attend a Balinese friends funeral. And by the time that’s done I’d say it’s going to be pretty close to Bintang time (beer o’clock).
Weather wise around this part of the island we’ve had rain through most of the night which continued through until 6.45Am this morning. Right now at 10.00Am the sky is still clouded over, but the sun is trying to break through. Temperature wise we are heading for a max of around 31 degree’s Celsius with the chance of further afternoon / evening showers.
Swell Forecast ; Now this is a tricky one cause I’m only going on what I can make out of someone else’s predictions. The charts are currently calling for wave height in the 6-8ft face range but today it’s way bigger than that. Then they are calling for a new system to show on around next Thursday at 8-10ft face value that should run through till Saturday. Then even further out around the start of following week there could be another swell heading our way.
Don’t forget you can drop us an email through the “Contact” link if you have any questions that might help your next vist to the holiday island run a bit smoother.
The good guys from the Macaroni Surf Resort up in the Mentawai Islands have also sent us through an “end of season” wrap up and included some super special deals for anyone wanting to get in early and book for the coming 2009 season. So check that out on the Macaroni Report under Surf Reports.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you will find that 1AU$=Rp7,585 – 1US$=Rp10,650 give or take 100 Rupiah.
I also just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
G-Land ; “SPECIAL OFFER FOR BALIWAVES.COM VIEWERS, 10% DISCOUNT” thanks to the G-land Surf Camp for sending us some new photos from G-land. And you can take a look at those on the G-Land page under the report section. You can also drop us an email if you want to cash in and find out how to get the 10% discount offer at the G-Land surf camp in 2009.
We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are US$15.00 for a room with big double bed and US$28.00 for a twin share room
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Bali Fishing New’s ; I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.
And just a reminder that we still have some original baliwaves.com T-Shirts (AU$15.00) and FREE stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Don’t forget if any of you lot want to grab some photos or video footage surfing here in Bali and we can easily arrange it for ya. Or if ya check out the Wotashot.com banner you might even find a photo of you on your last trip to Bali.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI, see ya’s here in 2008
