Super Bank….. by Scotto
OK today the 4th January 09′ I was down the beach having a surf and trying to make
the most of the 2-3ft waves that had arrived. All though this was a great idea every
other man and his dog was also down the beach early trying to get a wave. It was
almost impossible to get a wave without someone dropping in. But that’s what happens
if you deciede to surf at this over populated spot.
After getting a couple of waves by drifting all the way from snapper down to Kirra I
decieded that I would call it quits. I just can’t get past the hassles it takes to
get a wave out here. It can be so good and so frustrating all at the same time.
I headed home, but thought I would be back this afternoon to get some photos for you
guys to have a look at. I sat just off snapper rocks with my water housing. I still
need a fair bit practice to improve but you can see the maddness that is the the
super bank. If you can snavel a wave, you then have to deal with dodging a hundred
other guys who are either dropping in or paddling frantically to get out of the way.
Its all fun though if your keen.
Ok as you can tell I’m a bit over the so called super bank regardless of how good a
wave it can be. In reality its got to be one of the most dangerous places to surf
due to sheer numbers that flood the water every time it halfway breaks. Unless your
one of the privilged top 45 who can surf it with only one other surfer out, be
prepared to deal with a couple of hundred plus other surfers.
ok hope that you enjoy these few photos, till next time. Scott.
