Good morning crew and welcome back to the baliwaves.com for the big picture on whats happening surf and weather wise here on the holiday island of Bali.
Well here we are and despite what the International media have warned against, there’s been no terrorist attacks, no westerners bitten by rabid dogs, cats or monkeys and the funniest scare tactic of them all is that the party alchohol has been flowing freely (so I’ve been told…)
Yesterday we did finally see an increase in wave height here on the West Coast. But surfing conditions between Canggu to Uluwatu were once again trashed by a strong West to North West wind blowing upto 15knot+. But I did hear that Serangan was producing some fun little waves in the shoulder to head high plus region.
Today and things were looking good at 6.30Am with only a light North wind @ 1-3knot and 2-3ft+ waves showing between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. But as soon as I started thinking about making a run down to Uluwatu the wind increased into the 10-14knot range and swung a touch more to the NW. Putting an end to that plan.
So we’ll just wait and watch conditions and see what happens around midday and make a new plan in accordance with the wind direction. More than likely we’ll just be cruising over to Serangan. Keramas is off limits to the surfing public today as there is a contest being run up there. But if your into watching surfing that would be the place to be as I’m sure there will be some hot action going on.
I’m also going to be taking the video camera down to the beach here in Tuban late this afternoon to give you a look at what goes on on a typical Sunday, local style.
Tide wise today we will have a 1.7mtr High around the 10.00Am mark and then she’ll be running back out for a 0.9mtr Low around 3.30Pm.
Weather wise today, well this morning anyway we have a nice start to the day with a mainly blue sky and right now at 8.30Am the temperature would already be around the 26-27 degree Celsius mark out of the wind.
Interesting news dept: I was contacting by a group of good people who are in a way helping dispose of Bali’s huge plastic problem by recycling it into some nice looking products. Take a look for yourself at www.bombasticplastix.com
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Tuban you’ll find that 1AU$=Rp7,475 and 1US$=Rp11,450 give or take 100Rupiah depending on vender.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI, see ya’s here in 2009
