****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Hello to all you surfers from all over the globe tuning back into the original baliwaves.com daily surf and weather report. And things are looking a bit better for the crew here on the holiday island of choice, Bali.
This morning s 7.00am surf check on the Outer reefs was showing a slightly more consistent waist to waist high plus wave between Kuta reef and Airport left. With an as per forecasted clean off-shore wind on it. There were even a couple of surfers out on Middle Reef for the morning Low tide. But I was still hungry to get ya’s more photos from yet another diferent location, so I jumped on my old motor bike (circa ’96) and hit the highway for Uluwatu.
Now my first impression when I hit the carpark at Ulu was “shit it’s gunna be crowded” with no available car space, and this was at 9.00am. But when I got down to my favourite cliff side warung it wasn’t looking to bad, well at that stage anyway. There was a nice little 2-3 footer hitting the Main Peak and Temple sections and still the odd 2-2ft+ wave bending down through the Racetrack. Crowd wise it was pretty good with a total of 45 surfers from one end to the other. I even saw one set wave pushing a solid 4ft, but only the one. Now around 10.30am as the tide started to rapidly fill in over the reef things started to get a bit ugly crowd wise. Jumping from a mellow 45 to around 120 over the same ground. And not much brotherly love out there. I hung out for another half an hour but soon got bored with the amount of dumb ass dropping in going on and hit the road back to Home Base.
Riding back past Padang Padang and Impossible’s there was one lone surfer sitting on the very top end of Impossible’s waiting for what appeared to be 1 foot waves. While Padang Padang was flat as road kill. Lets hope our swell forecast stays on track and expect another slight improvement in wave height again tomorrow, peaking on Saturday.
Our daily sms surf report from the G-Land Surf Camp at 8.30am read “this morning we have a nice 3 foot swell hitting Money Tree’s and with the incoming tide could increase upto 4 foot. The wind is already off-shore and there’s 3 surfers in the water. All in all it looks like a fun day in G-land coming on”
Tidal info for today was calling for a 0.7mtr Low @ 7.00am and then a mid range 2.3mtr High around 1.00pm
Weather wise today in Bali it’s been hot and sunny with the temperature topping out around 29-30 degree’s Celsius.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find; –1US$=Rp10,800 — 1AU$=Rp7,800 — give or take a few Rupiah depending on vendor.
I’d also just like to mention that the Dewi Sri “live seafood” restaurant here in Tuban is once again under the control of the original owner and back to serving up the most freshest seafood in Bali. If you want to give it a try tell em baliwaves.com sent ya down to sample a free plate of their live prawns.
Ok that’s about me for today and I also managed to drop another batch of body boarding photos onto their page so if your into it check em out.
Take care out there and we hope to see ya’s over here in Bali in dry season ’09
Regards
Slim
