****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE****
G’Day and welcome aboard for the baliwaves.com daily run down on surfing and weather conditions here on the happy little holiday island of Bali. And, well well well, sorry crew but today was my turn to go and immerse myself into a few sweet little head to head high plus waves out at my favourtie break, Kuta Reef.
When I took my first surf recon (6.45am) of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban wave height was still holding nicely in the 3-4ft+ sector between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. And straight away I knew I had to get out there at KR. Surfing conditions were perfect with the ESE-SE off-shoreTradewind kicking in early @ 6-10knot. Kuta Reef while I was out there was a fairly consistent head to head high plus peeling off for up 80yrds. Crowd wise we had a good bunch of around 30 patient surfers with a friendly “have a chat while your waiting” type crew. Then down at Middle Reef wave height was hitting a bit harder in the head to double head high range but less consistent with the approaching high tide. Down at Airport Left it was buisness as usual on the small take off zone with 30+ surfers. Airport Right would have had some waves in the head high class but with the Tradewind steadily building in strength it would have been a tad bumpy.
Down on the Bukit I’m sure there was waves breaking at every location from Balangan to Uluwatu, with the exception of Padang Padang. We’ll be heading down that way tomorrow with the camera gear as I’m thinking wave height is going to be getting smaller on the Outer Reefs but Uluwatu, Bali’s premier surfing location should still be delivering the goods.
Our daily sms surf report from the G-land Surf Camp was calling the swell to have moved another point to the West. Still a solid 6ft hitting the bottom end of Kong’s with Money Tree’s peeling off in true G-land fashion. Crowd wise the boys are saying that there’s still only a crew of 15 to 18 surfers hitting the waves at any given time. Drop us a line if you want us to influence the owner of the G-Land Surf Camp for an extended 10% discount into G-land.
Our final (for the moment) sms surf report out of lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa reads, a perfect head to well over head high wave hitting Lakey Peak early this morning and barrelling off both left and right. 15 surfers in the line-up for the dawn patrol, but more expected to follow.
Tidal info today tells us that we had 2.2mtr High @ 9.00am and then she’ll be bottoming out for a 0.5mtr Low around the 3.30pm mark. We can also start to expect some bigger tide differences over the next week with our next Full Moon happening on the 9th.
Weather wise our day started off with more light rain just after sun rise and then as the Tradey kicked in she has cleared up for another perfect hot and sunny day here on the holiday island.
Ok crew we hope you have enjoyed seeing these current photos from the legendry G-Land. 32 photos on our little website, I don’t think you’d get anywhere near that kinda fix even in any of the big magazines would ya ? Just more proof that the baliwaves.com delivers !
See ya’s again tomorrow when I get back from the Bukit

hi Slim. nice photos – well done. so good to see 1 of a longboard (picture 25).I’ll be over in september till october (that’s right, 1 whole month) and getting impatient already. How’s that longboard report going? Been wating for a long time now, so how about a decision soon? A lot of longboard riders would love it .Thanks, baz.

Hey Baz, thanks for the comment bro. The problem with doing a longboard report is that what would i write ? the next problem is finding some competent long board riders. You see Uluwatu is not really a long board friendly wave. But if I see any one who can do LB justice I’ll take his photos. Thats about all I can do Baz.
