****MORNING SURF UP-DATE****
G’Day folks and welcome back to your baliwaves.com for the latest news on whats happening surf and weather wise here on your favourite surfing holiday destination of Bali. And another big thank you to Hendra and his team of surf photographers down at Uluwatu for providing us with more images from Ulu. And the latest news from Hendra is that the team has just acquired a new jet ski so soon enough we’ll be getting a whole new angle on our photos.
Ok this mornings surf check on the Outer Reefs was showing a drop in wave height, or rather, a much longer wait between sets. Earlier this morning before the tide has filled in with a solid 2.5mtr High there were some fun looking waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left in the waist to head high plus range. Kuta Reef @ 2-3ft, Middle Reef @ 2-4ft and Airport left @ 2-3ft+. But now that the tide is up the waves are too full and inconsistant. Hopefully around 1.00pm the waves should improve again.
Wind direction was coming out of the South early this morning @ 2-4knot before the ESE-SE off-shore Tradewind kicked in around 9.30am, currently gusting up to 8-10knot and will continue to increase through out the day.
Like I mentioned we are currently at the top of a 2.5mtr High that is going to drain off for a 0.1mtr reef exposing Low around 5.00pm
The guys over at the G-land Surf Camp have finally gotten back on the program and sent us an sms surf report. At 8.00am this morning the wind was also light on-shore out of the South with wave height breaking in the 4-5ft range (up to double head high) between Money Tree’s and the Launching Pad. No surfers in the water at the time but I’m sure by now with the wind back to off-shore and more water over the reef G-land would be going off right now as I type…. Ok the 10% discount for the early bookings has finished but I’ve spoken with the boss and he’s still prepared to give anyone who mentions baliwaves.com a 5% discount on standard and twin share bungalows and a 10% discount on their air conditioned bungalows. Just mention baliwaves.com at their office and you’ll get money back in your pocket.
Weather wise today here on the holiday island it’s just clear sailing all the way, blue sky and sunshine heading for a top temperature of around 32 degree’s Celsius on the beach.
Swell Forecast; Ok so the charts are saying that wave height should hold through today and maybe even pick up another foot or so through out this afternoon. Monday see’s wave height backing off a touch and holding through Tuesday in the 3-5ft range depending on location. Wednesday see’s wave height dropping back into the 2-4ft+ class through till Thursday evening when we should see another solid swell gracing the reefs around Bali pushing wave height back into the 6-8ft+ peg and hopefully another round of Padang Padang for Friday. Saturday wave height falling back into the 4-6ft range, then Sunday smaller again. But just on the edge of the radar there’s another system moving up the Indian Ocean arriving around Tuesday week. So get ready or start booking your flights to Bali.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that — 1AU$=Rp8,250 — 1US$=Rp10,350 — So get over here and get the most out of your holiday dollar.
That’s me for now but get ready for the end of the week and hopefully another visit to Padang Padang ! Stay chilled and I’ll be back with more of the best on Bali again tomorrow.
Best Regards from Bali
Slim
