****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
G’Day crew and I hope you’ve been enjoying your Sunday so far, I know the boys and I here at Home Base have been !
As I kinda mentioned in yesterdays report we made our plan to head up along Bali’s West Coast in search of some better sized waves than whats been breaking on the Outer Reefs over the last few days. We hit the road well before dawn so we didn’t have a clue what was happening swell wise on the Outer Reefs. As it turned out wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport left was only showing in the 1-1ft+ range. As you can see in these photos I shot there were some nice waves breaking both left and right, but we were far from having it to ourselves. Arriving at dawn there were already 5 surfers in the water and more steadily making their way out and to the warungs (cafe’s) in search of caffeine. Wave height was coming through at a very consistent 3-4ft with the occassional 5 foot clean up set. This was pretty surprising as I had a phone in surf report from Hendra down at Uluwatu calling wave height in the 2-3ft range. Then our daily sms surf report came through from the G-land Surf Camp calling wave height to be also only showing in the 3-3ft+ class. But I have to tell ya’s, taking on the north western highway of Bali is serious shit first thing in the morning. You get all sorts of maniac truck, bus and car drivers doing the craziest stuff and if your not concentrating……. But we got there and back in one piece and scored the best waves (today) in Indonesia for our trouble.
Weather wise up along the West coast of Bali we had nothing but blue sky and sunshine with a top temperature of around 30 degree’s Celsius. While Hendra was on the phone to me he was saying that it was just starting to rain down at Uluwatu.
Ok folks seeing as though it’s Sunday and I’ve been up since 3.00am, that’s about baliwaves for today. But I know Hendra will have another photo delivery coming to us later this evening and we’ll be back in the saddle again tomorrow. So have a good one and stay tuned to the one and only original daily Bali surf report.

Ya well, it wasn’t long ago I had to wait for people to show up to surf this spot. Bali is WAY overcrowded and the surf industry is seeing to it that it will go even further. It is now easier to get fun waves in Waikiki than here. Less grems too.. plus people know how to drive a vehicular. Plus if you shoulder hop like everyone here, you get yer as* handed to you!
Speaking of that, a friend reported another scooter death night before last. Scooter on car, pintar sekali bro!
If only I had the cake to go there…
