****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE****
G’Day crew and welcome to the weekend here on the baliwaves.com.
This mornings 7.00am surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban wasn’t looking the best and as per our swell forecast says wave height has backed right down into the 1-2ft class between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. And with a solid High tide coming on just after midday there’s not going to be too much breaking when that happens.
Surfing conditions are clean but also a touch bumpy with the wind coming strongly out of the ESE-SE gusting up to 15knot.
Looking for a wave today I’d be heading back down to the Southern end of the island and seeing what Uluwatu had to offer. As thats where your going to be finding the best size and power today.
Tidal info for today called in a 0.6mtr Low @ 6.00am and then filling back in for a 2.4mtr High @ 1.00pm.
Weather it’s all good with more blue sky and sunshine heading for a maximum temperature of around 33 degree’s Celsius along the beach.
Our daily sms surf report from the G-land Surf Camp was saying that wave height had also backed off over at G-land but still breaking in the 3-5ft range on Money Tree’s. There were 3 surfers in the water at the time of the report (7.30am).
Swell Forecast; This new system is really only going to get us through till Friday with waves up to 4-6ft, head high plus to double head high plus depending on location. Then on Saturday backing off again. But then again on Sunday next week it looks like we’ll be in for another solid boost with a much larger system moving in on us. Unfortunately this last system has already been down graded but still should be producing some solid waves. Starting to back off through Monday and continuing to drop through Tuesday. Small waves on Wednesday before we start to see another smaller swell fill back in around Thursday.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta; –1AU$=Rp7,850 — 1US$=Rp10,050 — give or take a 100 Rupiah depending on vendor.
Traffic Up-date, If your in a hurry try to avoid the Jalan Pantai.and Jalan Legian from early afternoon onwards. These area’s are clogged with domestic traffic and you can expect delays.
Here’s a few tips for any new visitors, 1/ don’t change your dollars to Rupiah at home, you’ll get a much better rate over here in Bali. 2/ If you need to change dollars at the airport when you arrive only change enough to get you to your hotel. The airport also has lower rates than on the street. 3/ Changing dollars with the money exchanging counters on the streets always use the vendors that display a “no commission fee” sign.
Hey and if you like Mexican food make sure ya drop in and see Liz at Mojo’s Flying Burritos up in Kuta, you’ll be impressed by the food and the low price.
Ok and make sure ya’s stay tuned right here on the original Bali surf report because tomorrow should some solid waves hitting Bali and we’ll be out there getting you the goods.
Best Regards
Slim
Hey Slin
Surfed Ku De Ta beach break this morning. That’s best with low tide early morning. Good waves break on the outside sand bar when the swell is 3ft plus. This morning it was good until 8am and then the swell just died. I hung around for 1/2 an hour without one set coming through before calling it quits.
Dunno what’s going on. Doc
