****MORNING SURF UP-DATE****
Hi crew and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves this fine Friday morning.for the latest news on surfing and weather conditions here on the island of Bali.
Ok this mornings surf check on the Outer reefs here in Tuban was still showing some size with wave height breaking in the 3-5ft class (head to double head high) between Kuta reef and Airport Left. With Kuta Reef peeling off some perfect waves in the chest to head high plus sector. But with at least 50 surfers in the line-up by 8.30am. Middle Reef was still in the head to double head high range and Airport left had chest to head high plus waves. I’d also have to think that around at Airport Right and Toro Toro there woulda also been some nice waves with the early morning high tide and lighter wind. I hung out with the boys down at the beach for an hour or so and it appears that wave height was backing off. By the time I headed home wave height was more like in the 2-4ft range and lot less consistent as before. But anyway there’s still plenty of waves about today here in Bali and I’m sure Uluwatu would still be in the double head high plus sector.
Surfing conditions were clean and glassy through the early morning before the Tradewind kicked in around 8.30am. The last few days it has been reaching gusts of up to 12-16knot+ by midday.
Tidal info is saying we had a 2.1mtr High @ 6.00am and then she’ll be running back out for a 0.8mtr Low around 1.00pm
Weather wise we are back to blue sky and sunshine around this part of the island and heading for a top temperature of around 31 degree’s Celsius.
G-land; Ok the 10% discount for the early bookings into the G-Land Surf Camp has finished but I’ve spoken with the boss and he’s still prepared to give anyone who mentions baliwaves.com a 5% discount on standard, twin share and fan bungalows and a 10% discount on their air conditioned bungalows. Just mention baliwaves.com at their office and you’ll get money back in your pocket.
Swell forecast; according to what the charts have to say wave height should be increasing a touch more through out today and into Wednesday. Then through Thursday starting to back off but still holding in the 3-5ft+ range (up to double head high plus depending on location). Friday see’s the last of it with wave height fading fast and dropping back down into the 2-4ft class. Saturday and the game is just about over for this swell, come Sunday the only place that will be breaking is down at Uluwatu and then only in the 2-3ft (waist to head high at best). But further out down in the Indian Ocean there is another system in transit that we should start producing some fresh waves around Wednesday / Thursday next week.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that — 1US$=Rp10,150 — 1AU$=Rp7,990 — give or take a few Rupiah depending on vendor. Here’s a few tips for any new visitors, 1/ don’t change your dollars to Rupiah at home, you’ll get a much better rate over here in Bali. 2/ If you need to change dollars at the airport when you arrive only change enough to get you to your hotel. The airport also has lower rates than on the street. 3/ Changing dollars with the money exchanging counters on the streets always use the vendors that display a “no commission fee” sign.
Photo up-dates; Hendra and his photo team down at Uluwatu have provided these latest photos for us today. Ray from the Kandui Surf Resort up in the Mentawai Islands has also sent us through more photos and another surf report from their part of Indonesia and you’ll find that stuff on the Kandui Surf Report Page.
Ok friends of Bali that’s us for this mornings up-date, but stay tuned through out the weekend as we’ll be bringing you the latest news and images all through it right here on the one and only original daily Bali surf report website.
