****MORNING SURF UP-DATE****
*So once again terrorism rears it’s ugly head in Indonesia with the two hotel bombings this morning in Jakarta. I’m sure now the authorities here in Bali will be on a very active alert and keeping our Bali safe from the hands of these fanatics*
G’Day folks and welcome back to your baliwaves.com for the dilay run down on surfing and weather conditions here on the happy little holiday island of Bali. And thanks to Hendra and his Team of photographers for these latest photos taken down at Uluwatu.
This mornings 7.30am surf recon of the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing wave height to be still hanging in there at 2-4ft (chest to head high plus) between Kuta reef and Airport Left. There were already at least 20 surers in the line up on Kuta reef and even though the wind was coming lightly out of the WSW @ 2-4knot there were still some clean enough chest to head high waves peeling along the reef. Middle Reef was picking up the biger set waves and there also looked to be a handful of surfers out there as well. Airport Left was picking up chest to head high plus sets and another dozen or so surfers out there enjoying the morning session.
Surfing conditions as I mentioned are still clean but with the wind coming out of the WSW. I’d expect the ESE-SE off-shore Tradewind should kick in anytime from mid morning.
Looking for a wave this morning you could take your pick of both East and West Coast through the morning and then when the Tradey kicks in anywhere between Kuta reef and Uluwatu will be the best option. Bingin will be worth another look on the Low tide and as usual Uluwatu will be picking up the best size and power.
Our sms surf report in from the guys at the G-land Surf Camp was calling wave height was calling the swell to have more West in it today so Kongs and the top end of Money Tree’s was where the best waves are. Wave height was still holding in the 4-6ft range and there were still no surfers in the water at 9.00am.
G-land; Ok the 10% discount for the early bookings into the G-Land Surf Camp has finished but I’ve spoken with the boss and he’s still prepared to give anyone who mentions baliwaves.com a 5% discount on standard, twin share and fan bungalows and a 10% discount on their air conditioned bungalows. Just mention baliwaves.com at their office and you’ll get money back in your pocket.
Weather wise today we did get off to a good start with blue sky and sunshine but now at 9.00am there is a little bit of cloud moving over. Hoping to get back to the blue sky and sunshine by midday and top temperature of around 29 degree’s along the beach.
Tidal info for today is saying we will have a 0.8mtr Low at midday and then a pretty ordinary 1.4mtr High around 6.00pm.
Swell Forecast; Hmmm, well as ar as I can tell wave height is going to slowly fade further through out today and tomorrow. Then late Wednesday evening a small system is going to start to show but nothing to impressive size wise. Thursday see’s wave height in the 3-5ft+ (head to double head high plus) range at the better locations, more southern facing. Holding into Friday morning before starting to back off through out the day and into Saturday. Another small spike expected for Sunday, but only short lived and dying off toward the afternoon. Then it’s back to small conditions for Monday and Tuesday. Hopefully come Wednesday we’ll see a slightly better system producing waves back up in the 3-5ft+ range.
And don’t forget to drop me a line if your looking for some surfer friendly accommodation here inTuban. Right here at Home Base we have single rooms for US$15.00, US$18.00 couple’s & US$25.00 for a twin share room. All rooms have Air conditioning, hot and cold water, tv, refridgerator and large private bathroom. 300mtrs back from the beach in fron of the Outer reefs here in Tuban.
Ok just a quick up-date for now but I might get back to ya’s later this afternoon with some more news. Right now I’ve got to get myself to a friends teeth fiing ceremony.
Have a good one.

Slim,
Who are you to discuss security in Bali? It could just as easily happen there as it has and encouraging people to come is irresponsible. The police DFAT etc know a lot more than all of us and have been saying it will happen for a long time and people should avoid Bali for their own safety or atleast lay low until something changes.
Hello Dave, dude you need to relax a bit. I just simply stated that the security has already been boosted here in Bali ? Thats what my eye’s have seen at the airport and at Hotels. Whats your problem, if you choose not to come to Bali that’s fine and your decision ? I don’t feel irresponible at all Davo, surfers will always come to Bali cause, face it, there’s surf, fun and sun. Everyone can choose Dave, I choose to live here, because I feel safer than I would say living in any other major city anywhere else in the World. Thanks for your comment Dave.
My point is there is a very high risk it could happen in Bali and people who have worked in security for years all agree with this. People will come to Bali still and that is their choice but they should listen to what the experts say, thats all I am saying! Ive been blown up before and its not fun.
No worries Dave, but it’s 99.9% surfers that are reading my reports and looking at the photos ?
