****MORNING SURF UP-DATE****
Hey crew and welcome back to your baliwaves.com for the most up to date surfing and weather information from your favourite holiday island of Bali. Todays photos are once again courtesy of our friend Hendra and his photographic team down at Uluwatu.
This mornings 7.30am surf check on the Outer reefs was still to find wave height breaking in the waist to head high class between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was still running in at the time and Kuta Reef was definitly the pick for the most consistent waves. Crowd wise there would have at least been 25+ surfers in the line-up but the waves were pretty well non stop in the waist to shoulder high range. Middle Reef was starting to get to full and fat but slightly bigger set waves around head high. Down on Airport Left the channel was choka blok full of reef taxi’s indicating a solid crowd, Airports was picking up the least amount of swell @ knee to waist high plus. I was talking to “Betet” earlier this morning and he was heading off to Keramas to see what was on offer, but that was before the Tradewind kicked in. Another well know Balinese surfer “Sima” said he was getting some nice barrels at Bingin yesterday on the run out tide. So there is still plenty of location variety on offer here in Bali.
Surfing conditions this morning were much cleaner than the previous few days with the ESE-SE Tradewind not fully kicking in until around 8.45am. Currently gusting up to 15knot+ and off-shore between Kuta and Uluwatu. The water temperature has been cooled down to a chilly 19 degree’s Celsius by the strong off-shore wind so if you’ve got a short sleaved vest it would be a good idea to pack it. Then again, if your coming from the Southern Hemisphere you won’t have any problems at all.
Tidal info is calling in a 2.2mtr High @ 9.00am and then a 0.4mtr Low around the 4.00pm mark. We also have a Full Moon rising tomorrow night so we are going to be seeing those big tidal diferances over the coming week.
Weather wise we were off to another cool start to the day with some cloud cover. But now at 10.30am we have a mainly clear and sunny sky, heading a top temperature of 30 degree’s along the beach (West Coast).
G-land; Ok the 10% discount for the early bookings into the G-Land Surf Camp has finished but I’ve spoken with the boss and he’s still prepared to give anyone who mentions baliwaves.com a 5% discount on standard, twin share and fan bungalows and a 10% discount on their air conditioned bungalows. Just mention baliwaves.com at their office and you’ll get money back in your pocket.
And don’t forget to drop me a line if your looking for some surfer friendly accommodation here in Tuban / Bali (the quiter end of town). Right here at Home Base we have single rooms for US$15.00, US$18.00 for couple’s & US$25.00 for a twin share room. All rooms have Air conditioning, hot and cold water, tv, refridgerator and large private bathroom. 300mtrs back from the beach in fron of the Outer reefs here in Tuban.
Surf Board special offer; It just so happens a friend of mine here in Bali is holding 3 brand new boards, never ridden or even waxed and is offering them at a special price of AU$525.00. These aren’t back yard or pop out boards either made by one of the most reputable shapers in Australia. Sizes are 6’3″ & 6’6″ So if your after a high performance new board drop us an email and I’ll put you in touch.
Photo Up-Date; The good guys at the G-land Surf Camp have sent us a few photos that were taken over at G-land over the last few days and you can find them on our G-land Report page.
Swell Prediction; Ok well here’s my interpretation of what we can expect swell wise over the next week. Late Tuesday afternoon we should see a small swell start to show boosting wave height back into the 3-5ft range. This will take us through to Wednesday afternoon before starting to fade on us. Then come Friday another similar sized system should give us some more waves through till Sunday. Further out in the Indian Ocean there is a solid swell moving our way and fingers crossed that should be here by next Tesday / Wednesday.
Ok thats all folks, have a good one and we’ll be back with the latest surf and weather news for ya’s again tomorrow.
Cheers
Slim
