****MORNING SURF UP-DATE****
Howdy to all you surfers tuning into the baliwaves.com and your daily dose of surfing and weather info from here on the happy little surfing holiday island of Bali. And another batch of photographs from our friends down at Uluwatu, Hendra Surf Photography. I’d also like to welcome Oakley on board the baliwaves, so make sure you check out their website and take a look at how the Oakley Pro Jr has been going at Keramas. Check the action here www.oakleyprojunior.com
First of all, Selamat Hari Raya Galungan dan Kuningan to any Balinese surfers tuning in today. We are off to a pretty good start here in Bali this morning, blue sky, off-shore wind and 2-3ft+ (chest to head high plus) waves hitting the Outer Reefs. With the early morning 1.7mtr High tide we had there was still plenty of water over the reefs and Kuta Reef was looking the best of the big 3. Waves in the chest to head high plus sector wrapping along the reef. Middle Reef will inprove towards the midday 0.8mtr Low and should have some head high to over head set waves. Airport Left wasn’t picking up as much swell as KR or MR but still had plenty of surfers out there chasing the waist to chest high plus range waves.
Looking for a wave elsewhere I’d be heading south down to Uluwatu where wave height should be still coming through in the head to almost double head high range. Balangan should also have a few for the ex-Dreamlanders in the chest to head high plus range. Talking to a friend last night who was surfing at Uluwatu yesterday, Kyle reckons Ulu was cranking at midday with only 12 surfers in the line up.
Surfing conditions are perfect here along the south west coast, with the wind coming lightly out of the ESE-SE @ 5-7knot. But will more than likely increase in strength through out the day.
Tidal info is calling for a 1.7mtr High @ 6.00AM and then running out for a 0.8mtr Low around 1.00PM.
Weather wise it’s going to be a hot one along the beach today, blue sky and sunshine heading for a maximum temperature of around 34 degree’s Celsius. Currently @ 9.15AM she’d already be in the high 20’s.
Sms surf report from the G-Land Surf Camp was saying that wave height is pushing double head high this morning. There were 10 surfers in the water on Moneytree’s with good clean off-shore wind at the time of the report (8.00AM).
Bruce Hansel, I only just heard the news that Bruce has just under gone some heart surgery from an attack he suffered earlier in the week here in Bali. Bruce is ok but he is struggling to pay for the operation and therapy. So if you know Bruce from down at Uluwatu and can offer any help, please do.
If it’s clean safe and friendly accommodation here in Tuban only 300mtrs back from the Outer Reefs, including A/C, hot water, refridgerator & TV for US$15.00 (Rp150,000) per night (single) or US$18.00 (Rp180,000) for a couple and US$25.00 (Rp250,000) twin share. Then drop me an email but usually we do need a few weeks notice.
G-Land we are offering you a 5% discount on all standard packages and 10% on air conditioned packages at the G-Land Surf Camp. And from all report’s I’ve heard of late, right now is an ideal time to get over there and score some un-crowded waves
We are also now sending out brief random surf reports and ravings through Twitter mobile phone service so sign up today !
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that –1AU$=Rp8,500 — 1US$=9,425 — give or take 50 Rupiah.
