****MORNING SURF UP-DATE****
G’Day surfers and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves for the news on what is actually happening surf and weather wise here on the ever friendly holiday island of Bali. Well I suppose everyone that’s tuned in is also hoping to see photos of cranking waves, but not today I’m sorry.
Yesterday I was posted here at Home Base with the “old trick back syndrome” but the boys staying with us headed back to Keramas. The report from Brendan and Mitch Duggan gave me was that there was still the odd 3 footer (head high) on the set waves but not too much breaking in between. But still they managed to get their share and have headed back there again this morning (11th). I also had another sms report from Scott W. who said he also found a few smallies at Serangan.
Today here on the Outer Reefs we have more micro sized waves lapping onto the reef in the ankle to knee high class with the wind already fresh out of the W – WNW @ 6-8knot. On-shore here along the West Coast, but should be clean off-shore over on the East side. But I think you’d be hard pressed with wave height further dropping off through out the day. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll see a slight spike in size with some chest to head high plus waves on offer at the right locations (East Coast).
Tidal info for today has a 0.7mtr Low @ 11.00am and then running back up for a 2.0mtr High around 5.00pm.
Weather wise here in Tuban this morning it’s just blue sky and sunshine, another very hot and humid day coming on with a maximum temperature around the 33-34 degree’d Celsius mark. Water temperature has also warmed up into the 24-26 degree Celsius range.
Holiday Season up-date, If any of you guys and girls have been here in Bali through the Christmas / New Year period then you’d know what to expect. For those of you that haven’t it’s the time when just about every Indonesian living outside of Bali decides to drive their car here. The end result is traffic KAOS for anywhere in the Kuta to Seminyak area, and I do mean traffic grid lock. Anyone who hasn’t had their hotel booked for at least 1 month in advance hasn’t got a chance. This all starts anytime in the next week or so and runs through till just after the New Year.
Baliwaves up-date, Our man in the Byron Bay area of Australia has sent us through another report along with some great photos he captured of storm clouds passing over. So take a look at Craig’s work before ya check out.
If it’s clean safe and friendly accommodation here in Tuban only 300mtrs back from the Outer Reefs, including A/C, hot water, refridgerator & TV for US$15.00 (Rp150,000) per night (single) or US$18.00 (Rp180,000) for a couple and US$25.00 (Rp250,000) twin share. Then drop me an email but usually we do need a few weeks notice.
We are also now sending out brief random surf reports and ravings through Twitter mobile phone service so sign up today !
As you all know we have been trialing a new photo viewing program to make it easier for you to flick through the photos on site. Ok, as you also should know is that we highly value our advertisers / sponsors, as they help pay our running costs / bills etc etc. So at the end of the trial period (1 month) if our advertisers / sponsors are still getting the same amount of views and visits then we will keep this system in place. If not then it’ll be back to the old system !!! So please make the time to visit the good folk who help keep the baliwaves on your monitor.
Now’s also a good time to start planning your 2010 Bali / Indo surf trip. If it’s an island hoping adventure on a live aboard surfing charter boat make sure you take a look at what the boys from www.indoocean.com have got on offer for you. G-Land, start getting your friends together for the ultimate surfing adventure at one of the surfing wonders of the World. Check out the guys at www.g-landsurfcamp.com for the experience. How about totally spoiling yourself at one of the private island resorts (Kandui / Macaroni’s) up in the Mentawai’s ?
Ok folks have a top day what ever you’ve got happening and stay tuned through the weekend here on Bali’s first and foremost surfing website as we’ll be keeping ya’s up to scratch on surfing and weather conditions.
Best Regards in Surfing
