****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Hi crew and welcome back to the baliwaves.com for the news on whats been happening here on the happy little holiday island of Bali. Just to bring everyone up to date the last couple of days have been pretty much just wind and rain.
But this mornings 7.00am surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing a nice little boost in wave height with 3-4ft+ (head to well over head high) between Kuta Reef and Airport left. So two of our guests staying with us fromĀ surf starved Sydney and myself at the wheel hit the road to see how Serangan was looking. Ariving around 8.30am to find wave height in the 3-5ft (head to double head high) and the wind coming out of the West and off-shore @ 10-15knot. Not a huge crowd present either with around 50-70 surfers spread over a couple of hundred yards. But like the last couple of days there was no shortage of rain and while we were there with a solid rain cell coming in from the South and absolutly pissing down for half an hour. After the rain passed surfing conditions were good again but with the wind now pushing 20knots out of the W-SW.
Tidal info for today had us down for a 1.5mtr High @ 9.00am and then running out for a 1.0mtr Low around the 2.30pm mark.
The next moon phase is going to be a New Moon on the 15th so we will see some better tidal ranges starting around 17th.
Weather wise today it’s been raining on and off with a heavy down pour thrown in through the morning. Now @ 2.00pm there is the odd patch of blue sky but I’d say we’ll see some more rain before the end of the day. Temperature wise the mercury would have reached 28 degree’s Celsius.
Swell outlook for the next 7 days is looking positive. Wave height is expected to bump a foot or two through Sunday holding into Monday before fading out on Tuesday. Then it’s looking our first decent swell for 2010 should be waiting for us when we wake up on Wednesday. If the forecast holds true wave height should jump into the double head high plus range through till Thursday then starting to back off on Friday.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that — 1AU$=Rp8,450 — 1US$=Rp9,100 — EU$=Rp13,150 —
Mojo’s Mexican Restaurant; I finally made it up to Mojo’s the other night, taking a couple of our guests with me to sample their fare. And I have to say it’s got to be the best value Mexican Restaurant here in Bali. Check out their banner advertisement on baliwaves.com and if your coming to Bali and like to eat Mexican food you owe it to yourself to try their burrito’s (5 star)
If it’s clean safe and friendly accommodation here at Home Base in Tuban only 300mtrs back from the Outer Reefs, including A/C, hot water, refridgerator & TV for US$16.00 (Rp160,000) per night (single) or US$19.00 (Rp190,000) for a couple and US$26.00 (Rp260,000) twin share. Then contact slim.
