****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE****
Howdy folks and welcome back to your baliwaves.com for the latest news and photos on todays surfing and weather conditions here on everybodies favorite surfing holiday island of Bali.
This mornings surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban wasn’t looking real good. Although wave height had as predicted jumped another foot in height upto the 2-3ft+sector the wind was up early coming out of the West @ 6-8knot+. Hence no surfers in the water between Kuta Reef and Airport left.
But as it shows in these current photos I shot there were some nice ones coming through for the 100+ surfers that were in the water at Serangan over on Bali’s East Coast. Wave height was a consistant head to well over head or in old fashioned surfer terms 3-4ft. Surfing conditions were clean with the wind still coming predominantly out of the West. But by 11.00am the wind was starting to swing more to the SSW and cross-shore. Incredibly there were once again “learn to surf schools” out there in the over head waves… I also heard that even down at Bingin, which is a very shallow tubular type wave there was a surf school in operation yesterday afternoon on the run out tide. Is this what surfing has become ? take a couple of lessons, get a certificate saying your a surfer, then go create havoc in the surf on one of those foamy type mals. Ya gotta laugh !
Tidal info for today had another 0.1mtr Low @ 7.00am and then filling back in with a 2.2mtr High around 2.00pm.
Weather wise it’s been a mainly cloudy / overcast day with a few patches of blue sky. Even so it’s been super hot and humid with a top temperature of at least 31 degree’s Celsius.
Swell out look for the next week is showing we should see a small pulse that will add another foot of wave height on Monday that will hold through Tuesday before starting to fade on Wednesday. The further out on Sunday another slightly bigger swell should start to show on the beachs and reefs around Bali.
If it’s clean safe and friendly accommodation here at Home Base in Tuban only 300mtrs back from the Outer Reefs, including A/C, hot water, refridgerator & TV for US$16.00 (Rp160,000) per night (single) or US$19.00 (Rp190,000) for a couple and US$26.00 (Rp260,000) twin share. Then contact slim.

i hope someone has a go at the idiots taking beginners out in head high plus surf. If a whole bunch of beginners start thinking they can paddle out at 4ft serangan and get in the way after two and a half days surfing they might find out that fins and heads don’t mix. It’s about time the people who learn to surf the real way, and know that you gotta spend years working up the level to surf these waves tell these companies where to go.

surf schools???? yes bali the land of the surf school!! where is there profesionalism most but not all have no idea you would assume by their actions?would it not be better they take them to sand bottom places??well as a tourist here what can we say??these teachers?? need to take some viagara eyedrops and have a good long hard look at themselves!!!! to an experienced surfer [35 years in the water] how stupid the schools look!! their guest might think they are cool but to surfers not surfies they are wankers.

I agree Watcher, you know a couple of years back I spotted a job advertisement in one of the Bali local news papers. “Surfing instructors required, minimum 1-2yrs surfing experience required”
