****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Howdy folks and thanks for waiting around for a look at todays surfing and weather conditions here on the one stop that’s got it all surfing holiday island of Bali.
Last night the plans were laid down to avoid Serangan and to take the crew here at Home Base to a different surfing location. So it was Keramas that was the best choice and as ya’s can see in these photos I shot it was worth the effort of a little extra car time to get there. We planned on hitting it as the sun rose but… 2 hrs later at 8.00am surfing conditions were still clean with off-shore wind and wave height in the head to well over head range (3-4ft). Crowd wise there was only 8 surfers already in the water and plenty of waves rolling through. By the time we packed up at midday there was still only 20 surfers in the line up. NB: surfing conditions were clean and glassy until around 9.00am when the Westerly wind swung to the WSW and increased up to 15knot+. I never shot as many photos as I’ve had liked to today but I did manage to shoot a few minutes of digital video. So I’ll see if I can edit a short video up for ya’s later tonight.
Tidal info for today had us down for a 1.6mtr High @ 10.00am and then she’ll be dropping out for a 0.8mtr Low around 4.00pm
The next moon phase is going to be a New Moon on the 15th so we will see some better tidal ranges starting around 17th.
Weather wise here in Bali today it’s been hot and sunny with nothing but beautiful blue sky. Temperature wise the mercury would have made it into the low 30’s on the Celsius scale.
Swell outlook for the next 7 days is looking positive. Wave height is expected to bump a foot or two through Sunday holding into Monday before fading out on Tuesday. Then it’s looking our first decent swell for 2010 should be waiting for us when we wake up on Wednesday. If the forecast holds true wave height should jump into the double head high plus range through till Thursday then starting to back off on Friday.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that — 1AU$=Rp8,450 — 1US$=Rp9,100 — EU$=Rp13,150 —
Mojo’s Mexican Restaurant; I finally made it up to Mojo’s the other night, taking a couple of our guests with me to sample their fare. Check out their banner advertisement on baliwaves.com and if your coming to Bali and like to eat Mexican food you owe it to yourself to try their burrito’s (5 star)
