****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Howdy folks and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves.com for our Sunday Session on todays surfing and weather conditions here on everybodies favorite surfing holiday island of Bali.
So this morning got under way with my usual surf check on the Outer Reefs, mainly just for wind direction and swell indication. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left had seemed to improve from yesterdays waist high surf up into a more respectable chest to head high. As predeicted the wind was coming straight out of the West @ 6-10knot. So I made a move and headed for Serangan. I was hoping that seeing as the tide was still fairly low that the crowd would be a little more sedate than usual. Nope, apon arrival there would have been close to 200 surfers spread over the 3 different peaks. Wind direction was clean off-shore at Serangan and there was some nice right handers coming through for those that could get one to themselves.
Today’s tidal info had us down for a 0.8mtr Low around 10.30am and then she’ll be filling back in for a 2.1mtr High around 5.00pm.
Weather wise as ya’s can probably tell by these current photos I shot today it was a mainly overcast morning (beats shooting into the sun though). But the afternoon has cleared up and we’ve now got blue sky in abundance.
Swell outlook for the next 7 days is looking positive. Wave height is expected to bump a foot or two through Sunday holding into Monday before fading out on Tuesday. Then it’s looking our first decent swell for 2010 should be waiting for us when we wake up on Wednesday. If the forecast holds true wave height should jump into the double head high plus range through till Thursday then starting to back off on Friday.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that — 1AU$=Rp8,450 — 1US$=Rp9,200 —
If it’s clean safe and friendly accommodation here at Home Base in Tuban only 300mtrs back from the Outer Reefs, including A/C, hot water, refridgerator & TV for US$16.00 (Rp160,000) per night (single) or US$19.00 (Rp190,000) for a couple and US$26.00 (Rp260,000) twin share. Then contact slim.

Looks like a fun day despite 200 surfers in the water!
