****MORNING SURF UP-DATE****
Good morning folks and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves.com for the latest news on todays surfing and weather conditions here on the one stop thats got it all happy little holiday island of Bali.

Well this morning I was up way before the sun rose and the wind was howling out of the West @ around 15+knot. But by the time I got down to the beach for my 6.00am surf recon of the Outer Reefs it had swung to the North and settled down into the 4-7knot class. Wave height as forecasted did start to build a little late yesterday afternoon. And this morning it was showing in the 2-3ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was almost on the bottom of the low, and Middle Reef was indeed quite surfable with chest to over head set waves. That was just after sun up and only really lasted untill 7.30am before the wind started turning more to the NW-W. I think we can expect it to be blowing mainly out of the Western quadrant for most of the day and then more to the SSW by mid afternoon.
Looking for a wave today; I’d have to imagine that Canggu, Balian and possibly Medewi would have been worth a look for those up early, or already on location. Now at 8.30am the East Coast would have the best conditions with the wind coming more out of the West. Anywhere between Green Bowls and Keramas would have some waves.
Tidal info for today has a 0.2mtr Low @ 8.00am and then we’ll have a 2.3mtr High around 2.00pm.
Weather wise this morning there is some scattered cloud hanging around but plenty of blue sky filling in the gaps. Temperature wise we should feel the mercury around the 30 degree Celsius mark by midday.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta; –1US$=Rp9,220 — 1AU$=Rp8,475 — rates will vary from vendor to vendor.
My last few trips to Serangan and at Keramas I’ve seen a lot of people get “sea urchin spines” in their feet. You don’t only find these nasty little creatures at these two locations but at just about any surfing location that has rock and reef. It’s pretty futile to try and cut them out or even pull them out with tweezers as they are very brittle and only break apart. The last time I was unlucky enough to get some stuck in between my toes… was up at Medewi. Being in a very awkward spot I went to a doctor to see if they could be removed. He told me it was just best to leave them in and within a week to ten days they should disolve. So just a heads up if your walking out for a wave over a rocky bottom, try and walk on the high spots and watch where you are putting your feet if possible.
Swell Forecast for the next 7 days is calling for a new swell to start showing later this afternoon and should put us back into the head to well over head range. Holding through Friday before starting to fade out on Saturday. Sunday and it’s just about over, Monday back down into the micro class and then another small bump on Tuesday.

a tip from sumatra on urchin spines- throw a lime into the hot coals of a fire and when the skin is slightly charcoaled pull it out of the fire, cut it in half and vigorously rub the cut lime into the area where the spines are. They disapear in minutes.
Hi Bruce and thanks for passing on your knowledge bro !
This has got to be the best comment thats been posted on baliwaves, and I think there’s something in it for everyone !
I did forget to mention the lemon / lime factor, but didn’t know about heating them up first.
