****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE****
Howdy folks and another big thanks for stopping by the baliwaves for todays news on surfing and weather conditions here on best value for dollar surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok so this mornings surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was once again only showing wave height to be a measley old 1-1ft+ between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. So back into the rental and head south for Uluwatu was the call.
Arriving at Ulu at 7.15am to find 1 surfer in the water on the Racetrack section. Wave height was still only just starting to show down here with 1-2 footers and a clean off-shore wind out of the East @ 1-3knot. As it shows in todays photos I shot. But after the Low tide passed and she started to run back in wave height did occassionaly nudge the head high class or 3ft. By 9.30am and plenty of water covering the reef I had a head count of 68 surfers in the water between Temple’s and the Main Peak. I’m even amazed that there are still this many surfers hanging around here in Bali, I mean it’s the wet season isn’t it ? Looks like 2010 is going to be big year for tourism here in Bali.
Surfing conditions remained clean with off-shore wind out of the East through until 10.30am when she decided to swing to the West and increase to 6-8knot.
Tidal info for today had another 0.1mtr Low @ 6.30am and then filling back in for a solid 2..4mtr High around 12.30pm.
Weather wise, no rain in sight this morning, just blue sky and sunshine. Right now @ 12.45pm the temperature would be sitting on 33 degree’s Celsius.
Just for the record coming up on the 16th of March it’s “Hari Nypie” day again. The day when no one is allowed out for a surf or even out of their accommodation for the 24hr period. No cars, lights, industry and no noise. Imagine if every country could shut down for just 1 day a year….
Swell forecast, at last we have some good news with a new new medium swell in trasit to Bali that should start to show by Saturday / Sunday. In the mean time we should see a smaller system give wave height a nudge by tomorrow afternoon (Wed)

Hari Nypie…..??
what, no one is allowed out of their hotels ?
i can see the importance of no surf days if its a country thing, ie; samoa not entering the water on sundays or green board shorts in bali, but not being allowed out of your hotel is a bit harsh.
cheers
