****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Howdy folks and time for another dose of the baliwaves to see whats been happening surf and weather wise here on most people’s No.1 surfing holiday destination of Bali.
This mornings surf recon on the Outer Reefs here in the friendly little surfing suburb of Tuban as expected was showing a very weak looking 1 foot of swell breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. And what a pity as the wind has been pretty much blowing off-shore here on the West Coast all day.
So just for a change I took the boys for a spin down to Uluwatu to see if we could find a few waves. Arriving around 9.00pm to find wave height a semi un consistent 2-3ft, or waist to head high on the bigger set waves. We weren’t the only ones that headed for Uluwatu with the number of surfers in the water maxing out at 42. Spread between the Temple and the Main Peak. Surfing conditions at Ulu as ya’s can see in these photos I snapped were also clean and tidy, and all but off-shore.
Weather wise it’s been another cloudy day with scattered showers, just perfect for getting my double outrigger fishing boat painted, not.
Tidal info for today had us down for a 0.8mtr Low @ 9.30am and then filling back in with a 2.1mtr High around the 4.00pm mark.
Swell outlook for the next 7 days is not looking good and most locations through out Indonesia are goin g to be experiencing a serious lack of waves. Hopefully we’ll still be able to find a few for ya’s.
Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa. A friend of mine has just returned from Lakey Peak with some disturbing news and has asked me to pass it on to anyone planning a trip over to Lakey’s. Firstly it starts off at Bima Airport where you touch down in Sumbawa. The Imigration officers are requiring that all visitors (no one but surfers go there…) bring their original passport with them photocopies are not exceptable, unless that is you pay them to wave the requirement. Secondly while surfing down at Periscope’s (one of the most sickest right handers ever) my friends wife remained on the beach while the boys went surfing. Suddenly a local with the apropriate terrorist style head covering appeared from behind her and made a grab for their backpack. Automatically the lady held onto the bag and started to scream for help. Then the thief pulled a knife out and started slashing at the bag and the lady, resulting in a nasty cut on her forearm. Luckily the boys in the surf heard and saw the struggle and made a bee line to the shore. So proceed with caution.

Guys watchout. Plenty of hooligans smashing glass and breaking into cars at Nusa Dua lately. Be careful.
